Is your comfort zone becoming uncomfortable? I’d take that as a nudge from God that you’re meant for and to do more. Don’t ignore it. Lean into it and embrace it! 💖🕯

The older I get the more I’m concerned with BEING rather than simply doing. As I prepare for the end of this school year I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Looking forward to really tapping in to more of what God has given me.

BE! It’ll change ya life. 💖

It’s here. 🥹

Eight years to the day after I first sat down and started writing, Voice Like a Trumpet: Overcoming Through Speaking Truth is officially available.

This book is my testimony. It’s personal. It’s vulnerable. It’s rooted in my faith. And now it belongs in the hands of whoever God intended me to write it for.

Voice Like a Trumpet is available now at www.voicelikeatrumpet.com

Speak truth. Share your testimony. Overcome. by @michaelacare

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
Revelation 12:11 KJV

This scripture is one of the foundations of Voice Like a Trumpet. I don’t believe testimony is simply telling people what happened to you. There is power in speaking truth about what the enemy has done and what God has brought you through.

But I’ve also come to understand that you can’t fight spiritual battles without understanding the weapons God has given you.

Scripture calls the Word of God the sword of the Spirit. I’ve said it this way: not knowing the word is like having a sword you can’t lift and swing. Or as others have said, like having a gun with no bullets.

That’s part of why this book moves beyond telling my story. By the time you reach Part Three, Priesthood, I’m examining what I believe was happening spiritually, what God revealed to me, and what scripture taught me about how to respond.

Because for me, speaking truth isn’t just about telling what happened. It’s about overcoming. by @michaelacare

My immediate family is not quiet. 😂 (I blame surround sound speakers) We’re vocal. We’re opinionated. We confront things.

But looking back, I’ve realized that some of the deepest, most serious things were different. They could come up. They could be acknowledged. And then, with enough time, we could go right back to life as usual.

I didn’t necessarily recognize that as dysfunction while I was living in it. It was family. You learn how your family works, and you learn how to function within it.

In Voice Like a Trumpet, I call some of that “going along to get along.” As an adult, I’ve had to examine the difference between acknowledging something happened and actually confronting it.

They aren’t the same thing. by @michaelacare

This birthday feels a little different.

I’m entering another year of life just six days away from releasing my first book, and there’s something pretty special about being able to add author to the list of things I’ve become along the way.

If there’s anything I’m taking with me into 41, it’s an even greater commitment to live with intention, obey God, use my voice, and do the things I’m supposed to do while I have the opportunity to do them.

Like Whitney Houston said in Waiting to Exhale “…and I stiiillll look good” 😏

Here’s to 41. 🥳 by @michaelacare

Eight years ago, on September 18, 2018, I sat down and started writing.

I didn’t know then what the journey to finishing it would look like. And it definitely didn’t happen the way I thought it would.

There is a story behind how a few pieces I started writing eight years ago became the book I’m getting ready to release today.

What I will say now is that the timing of this release isn’t accidental to me.

September 18, 2018 → September 18, 2026.

Exactly eight years.

Okay, so about that book...

Voice Like a Trumpet: Overcoming Through Speaking Truth is my testimony.

I write about childhood, family, sexual abuse, faith, adulthood, and some of the experiences that shaped who I became. I also look back at things I once understood through the eyes of a child with the understanding I have now.

But the book isn’t only about what happened to me. It’s about truth, what silence can cost, what happens when painful things are acknowledged but never fully confronted, and the power of testimony.

So...I did a thing.

By did a thing I mean wrote a book.

Coming soon. 📚 by @michaelacare

Have you or someone you know experienced molestation or sexual abuse? ✋🏾🙋🏾‍♀️ Do you know that sexual abuse can run in a family from generation to generation? Often times because it goes unspoken and/or unaddressed. If you could break that cycle and prevent it from occurring in your life or the lives of those you love would you break it?

My sis @destineekiing is hosting a free event to help those who have experienced sexual abuse walk in complete healing and deliverance.

I’m genuinely excited about what God is going to do on this day. I highly recommend you attend and encourage someone else to attend as well. 💖 RSVP in bio by @michaelacare
