Ahhhh did you hear the big news?!! I am shocked, surprised, delighted and so pleased to announce that I am a finalist for @sandiegomag’s Art & Design Rising Star Award in their Annual women’s issue! Like what?!

It is because of YOU that this is even a thing, I am soooooo grateful! Truly. Wow. Thank you.

The final stage is a voting process so if you feel called I would so appreciate your vote. However, the polls are only open thru July 26th, this week! I have added the direct link to my page and on highlights for easy access.

“If you build it, they will come.” — Field of Dreams

A funny little quote that has threaded through the years I’ve spent building an artistic life.

At first I thought they referred to collectors.
But sometimes I wonder if they are all the versions of me—my child self, my inner teen.
Maybe I’ve been building a life they, too, could live in. One they’d be proud to inhabit.

Like so many, I romanticized the life of Monet—
A garden he painted in, a world that fed his art and was fed by it in return.
Every day I wake up and strive to experience even a flicker of that magic.
To feel like I’m part of my own movie.
(One with a string score, birdsong, and waves breaking along the shore.)

This isn’t to say my life is perfect or that I wake up happy.
I live with chronic depression.
And some days, yes, it all feels meaningless.

But god—
It’s all so beautiful and sad.
Epic and tragic. Breathtaking and heart-wrenching.

Experience can’t be summed up in a sentence or a life.
If you haven’t noticed by now, existentialism is a tick I’ve never been able to shake.
And yet, it’s all still so beautiful.

So we paint.
We plant.
We collect seashells and close our eyes to feel the wind comb through our hair.

This is me.
This is my art.
And I’m so grateful to be here—with you—
in this wild, painful, magnetic, love-filled world.

“Mission Beach Morning” 36 x 48” acrylic on canvas. This painting was about that ideal morning hour when the fog lifts and the light starts to cut thru the water showing more teals and ceruleans amongst the waves! The kelp is ashore from the night surf and the tide is going out. Soon the beach will be filled, but right now it’s just you and the sea.

This painting is on view at the Dick Laub Command Center in @artsdistrictlibertystation thru October and available! All art deliveries will go out first week of Nov. Feel free to send me your questions or request a showing! Xo

My love for this city always ran deep, but this year you all showed up for me in a way I could never imagine! Never truly repay! But I did what I knew how to do- make some paintings and throw a party!

I am so proud of this collection, as I am of us San Diego, for taking care of such a beautiful place with our whole hearts. I also want to thank those of you who are supporting my work and this collection from afar! Locals’ Summer (the collection) was more than just an ode to my hometown. It was also a celebration of a human joy that happens at the shoreline!

Anyway, this collection is on view at @artsdistrictlibertystation for the month of October at the Dock Laub Command Center for free! All are welcome!

My favorite and final piece!

“The Morning Chill at Shore” is the final painting in the “Locals’ Summer” collection.

The whole show opens tonight! Can you believe it?! If you’re in SD I’d love to see you tonight at the reception at Mi Gallery Tu Gallery @migallerytugallery l, 6PM, 2690 Historic Decatur Rd, San Diego, CA 92106 (Liberty Station).

It’s also a celebration of Best Painter in San Diego Magazine’s Best of San Diego, so I’d love to share the night with you!

If you can’t make it tonight don’t worry, the paintings stay on view at Liberty Station through November at the @artsdistrictlibertystation command center.

Wow! Just wow!

Yesterday evening was a dream come true! The Locals’ Summer opening night and celebration was absolutely electric, and one of my favorite moments as an artist in my entire career.

You’ll be hearing more about the event and the collection (it will live on at @artsdistrictlibertystation for the next month), but this weekend I want to savor the love and magic.

Most importantly, I want to thank everyone who came out last night. It was so wonderful to be with you, and thank you to all the friends and family who helped make this evening a reality!

And to everyone who took a piece of art home, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Knowing my work now lives in your space means the world to me!
