933 miles.
Nearly 14 hours of driving there and back in one day, all to spend time at FUMED in Atlanta.
Every mile was worth it.

Getting to spend time with Maya Njie felt like being with family. Neerav and Ridhima from Mitti Parfum have that same brother-and-sister energy with me, and I’m grateful for them. I also got to meet JK from Rising Phoenix, and Jay came along to smell Rising Phoenix with me. Jacob, the perfumer behind UK-based NOSU Parfum, was wonderful to meet, and Crystal and Jodi from Maison des Animaux were so welcoming. Their fragrances were incredible.

I met so many great people and discovered so much along the way. Thank you to everyone who made the day special.

Is Obscura perfumery’s Mystique?

This started with the similarities I noticed between Obscura and Dark Tales, but Dark Tales wasn’t the only comparison that came up.

In this video, I look at the examples involving Necros, Byredo, Diptyque, BDK Parfums, and Parfums de Marly, along with Obscura’s own explanations and the smell test.

Coincidence? A pattern worth questioning?

Obscura Fragrancia calls itself "artisanal perfumery". So why does the lineup feel like a dupe house?

Dark Tales’ Old Library is from 2019.

Obscura (2025) uses the exact same name, and the wider Gothic overlaps are hard to ignore.

In my view, Obscura is and has been copying Dark Tales’ creative direction. Artisanal should mean original ideas. Where do you draw the line?

🚨🚨Watch the WHOLE video before you decide anything! 🚨🚨

This is a really sad situation for fragrance brands, fragrance content creators, and also Nigerians as a whole. I don't take doing this type of content and research lightly and this video took a couple of sleepless nights.

The purpose of these videos is to make fragrance brands aware of what is going on and so many can safeguard themselves from things of this nature happening to their companies now or in the future.

He called what was being said “conspiracies.”

So instead of arguing, I went back to the messages, timelines and information provided to me.

I’m presenting what I found, his own statements, and the responses I received so you can come to your own conclusion.

This is only Part 1.

I spent one week digging into this before saying anything publicly. My goal isn't to pick a side or rush to judgment. It is to follow the receipts, hear different sides, and determine whether the concerns being raised actually had evidence behind them.

I would never irresponsibly put something like this out without doing the research first. At the end of the day, this is bigger than any one person. It’s about transparency, accountability, and protecting the fragrance community as a whole.
