2005, when Confessions on a Dance Floor by Madonna came into my life, I was going through one of my most challenging phases. It was the beginning of understanding myself as a gay man, a time filled with questions, confusion, and internal conflict.

That’s when my inner sense of freedom began to emerge.

In São Paulo, discovering The Week nightclub São Paulo and experiencing a set by Offer Nissim changed something in me. I connected deeply with electronic music, but more than that, I started connecting with myself.

Music has always been there for me. It saved me more times than I can explain.

Looking back, I realize how lucky I was to live in a time where things moved slower. We had space to feel, to listen, to reflect. And maybe that’s what we’re missing today.

Because sometimes, in order to be saved, we need to allow ourselves. To pause. To feel. To live without rushing. To dance without an agenda. To experience moments without trying to prove anything to anyone.

I see so many people today living fast, even in spaces that are meant to be free. Walking into a night already chasing something, instead of simply being present.

And the truth is, real freedom comes when you allow yourself to evolve. To change. To create new versions of who you are without judgment.

Not every opinion deserves a place inside you.

Sometimes, you have to quiet the noise… just to hear yourself again.

And maybe that’s the real luxury today… having the courage to feel, without asking for permission. by @michaelbenayonofficial
