Next week in Athens: 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐀, opening September 17, @george_benias_gallery brings together new works from Michael Bühler-Rose’s ongoing Verso series, reconstructing in wood intarsia the backs of artworks, in this case, associated with New York in the 1980s.
The exhibition takes its point of departure from ART, a six-week exhibition presented at AREA nightclub in 1985, and its invitation featuring Michael Halsband’s group portrait of participating artists, dealers, and members of the AREA circle. The works reveal routes of circulation through galleries, museums, collectors, and auction houses—presenting art history as a history of objects and their relationships. September 17–October 31, 2026

@halseymckaygallery is pleased to present 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤, Michael Bühler-Rose’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition takes its cue from the Studiolo of the Ducal Palace in Gubbio, continuing Bühler-Rose’s use of wood inlay as a language for collections and collecting, where the self is assembled through relationships, memories, and objects of devotion.
