favorite moments from a climbing trip through the eastern sierras that brought me to the top of mt. whitney, countless high alpine lakes, and yosemite valley. I wasn't expecting to climb the mountaineering route of mt whitney, but had beautiful weather and decided the day before to try it out. with trekking poles and crampons started at 2 am and was at the top by 9. an ice ax would have made the climb down easier, there was still a good amount of snow. got to do some trad climbs in alabama hills as well as shark fin arete which i've been meaning to climb for a while. multiple 20 mile day hikes to some beautiful lakes in big pine and lone pine. although there was a lot inaccessible areas because of the snow, the amount of water coming down the waterfalls and rivers makes this area so beautiful at this time of year. first photo is a view of yosemite valley at sunrise, vernal falls in bottom right corner taken in Eastern Sierras by @michaelgosselin

shots from the mars like landscapes of Utah. crossed over from arizona into valley of the gods, then up to moab for some climbing and time spent in canyon lands and castle valley area. went through hanksville, grand staircase escalante, and bryce canyon before getting into southern nevada. so many slot canyons and arches to check out. hung out at some hot springs and the colorado river then was surrounded by a gang of big horn sheep at the valley of fire. the last photo is their babies looking down from the cliff taken in Utah by @michaelgosselin

started in the superstition mountains going through arizona hiking to weavers needle and petroglyphs, before heading up to sedona. biked around for a bit then got a permit for salt river canyon, which has the blue water of havasupai without the crazy cost. made my way to the dark night skies of page and lake powell and was able to paddleboard into the back of antelope canyon. saw rattlesnakes, a gila monster, elk, and a mountain goat along the way taken in Arizona by @michaelgosselin

drove over 2000 miles down to la paz and on the way got to swim with a whale shark off shore, see humpbacks, and pet the nose of a gray whale. never thought i'd get to do that! checked out some pretty isolated spots in central baja and got to surf a few waves almost alone. by @michaelgosselin

favorite desert shots captured through utah, new mexico, and arizona. the first photo I hiked out to the delicate arch at 2 am under a full moon, it was so bright i didn't need a headlamp. it's a 30 second exposure, but the moon made the photo appear like it was almost daylight. other places include ship rock, factory butte, coral pink sand dunes, bryce canyon, potash ponds, dead horse point, the end of the world camp spot, and soldiers pass by @michaelgosselin
