Michael J. Blood executes a stunning volte-face from rugged house and soul to more intuitive, introspective, ambient jazz and electroacoustic dub under a new moniker SEES, signifying a newfound psychoactive frisson to his work that lands him somewhere in the spiritual vicinity of Vangelis, Moodymann, Ron Trent, Pendant, Terre Thaemlitz.

‘Ampersand Curve’ initiates a brilliant new phase of work by North Manchester’s most elusive artist, best known as Michael J. Blood. His string of ruffkut club bangers as well as jams with Rat Heart & Samizdat over the past seven years, have made his records a true cult property, and now find him signed to one of the UK’s most foundational techno imprints - more of which later this year.

But under the SEES aegis, he swims in very different waters, following his instincts to use the studio-as-instrument to produce his most impressive, deep-minded work, made from - and for - the heart. Where MJB was all about off-the-cuff club jams cooked for immediacy, his new stylistic switch reveals myriad worlds of influence swirling under the hood, where interrelated spheres of spiritual jazz, dub, ambient and concrète more clearly light up his rich inner world.

A huge, heartfelt tip for a 2026 stunner.

The Latin word ‘decem’ means ‘ten’ and is the root of the word December, the 12th month of the Gregorian calendar.
What tf does this have to do with anything? It means the year doesn’t end here and time is essentially an illusion.
The new year does not commence in January, it starts where the zodiac begins (Aries), when everything else in nature comes to life and ‘springs’ into action on the Spring Equinox of March.
The point is, while this may be the last release of the year according to the Gregorian calendar, it’s not the last release of the year according to nature.
Make of that what you will. Or don’t.

Manchester’s shapeshifter Michael J. Blood is an enigmatic figure working in various fields; primarily music and design. Running the house of Blood Inc. label and co-runs the Bodytronixxx label.
On Saturday 4th of October Michael will play a live set of music that is been made specifically for Open Ground. The intention is to present something that is true, current and unheard, while serving as a sonic snapshot of a moment in time. Expect jacking and bucking House. Beatdown and offbeat bustle with lush and rugged turns from 12:30am till 1:30am in the Annex.

We’re happy to host the first live UK live performance of SAMIZDAT, a project from lords of the Manchester underground, Michael J Blood and Samizdat. Their First LP ‘Disenfranchised Refuseniks’ flew off the shelves and received top reviews, heavy rotation from DJ’s such as Michel Gaubert and air play on various radio shows globally. Much the same as the first release their second LP “2” has been getting top reviews and serious rotation on shows and on dancefloors worldwide. Hot off the back of “2” and recent live performance at Meakusma festival in Belgium back in August, we’re looking forward to MJB and Sam droppin’ science live in the pub.

Tickets are limited and available from @resident_advisor don’t sleep on this one.
