A Common Place / Unearthed Plates.

These photos didn’t make it in the printed book but felt like they wanted a life beyond the archive.

Reflecting on the fragmented nature of information, technology and media. Thinking about the bite-sized repackaging and regurgitating of the things we consume. Finding a way through the messiness in an attempt to create something serene and connected. Looking for beauty in the mundane. Creating narratives by connecting pieces that are seemingly unrelated or separate.

This work explores an environment on macro and micro levels, engaging with both large scale scenery and small but (perhaps) overlooked details. The location is examined through photography, video, and field recordings. It is then deconstructed and recomposed through collage, animation, graphic design, and microsound synthesis.

Location: California Scenario, aka Noguchi Garden, Costa Mesa, CA. taken in Noguchi Garden by @michaeljsalter
