I got a message from a fellow rollerblader this morning about my Valo section and how much they liked it. Watching this video made me a little emotional. It was a pivotal time in my life when everything was just about to shift.

I had gotten to a place where, as a professional, I felt like I was growing into my own and entering the next chapter. But from my perspective, the career itself wasn’t sustainable, and tragedy also entered my life.

The biggest takeaway from that time is how effortless, enlightening, and amazing daily life felt in so many ways. I’ve become so many different versions of myself since then, but I hope I can find some level of that again, and maybe even more.

I don’t want to go back, but there are characteristics from that version of myself that I still wish I had. At the same time, I’m definitely a more evolved human in so many ways. I’m no longer that insecure, weak individual. I know myself better now. I understand what I’ve been through, how to care for people, and, more importantly, how to care for myself.

Boundaries. Transparency. Confidence. And the understanding that, in this life, everything is temporary.

Embrace it. Enjoy it. Take every aspect and every moment in. by @michaelmartinho
