a love letter to my village,

people all say they want “the village.”

people yearn for community, deep connection, and people who truly have their backs.

yet people hide behind therapy-speak throwing around psychological buzzwords using them as a shield to avoid accountability, to dodge hard personal work, to weaponize language against others when that’s the exact opposite of what people need to do.

when i ruminate about this past weekend, i think about the village that we have; i see people who have shown up, who have checked in when it’s not convenient, who have offered help before they’ve been asked, who have stayed and had tough conversations, who i’ve laughed and shed tears with.

this village isn’t something we’ve found, it’s something we’ve built.

so thank you for seeing me, laughing at my stupid jokes, letting me be dumb, showing up for me, and letting me show up for you.

life isn’t easy, but it’s easier with people like you. it can get lonely and make you jaded if you let it but i’m gonna continue to walk this earth living and loving the only way i know how.

“what we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”

thanks for one of the best weekends of my life 🫶🏼
