Proof of life: A birthday post of me and my crayons

Every year on this day, I’m reminded that the clarity I had as a child in Zimbabwe was oracle-grade. Each year since has gently blunted it.

Thankfully, we never fully outgrow ourselves. That childlike clarity continues to sing beneath the perpetual hum of adult expectation.

I’ve learned to sit with that quieter voice. It has guided me more faithfully than anything else.
