(This will be long and all over the place but I have to get it out)

Today is the birthday of my late spiritual father. I walked next to this man like I was his real son. It’s still hard to completely interpret what I feel. God knows that I NEED authenticity. Most relationships I have experienced don’t and didn’t have the authenticity that we had.

Honestly, outside of my wife & my mother, he allowed me to be me and accepted me for me. He supported my dreams and pushed me to be the comedian he knew was inside of me. He helped me to know that I heard God. When I was frustrated with my life and myself, he reminded me not to be hard on myself.

There’s a reciprocity that I believe Paul was looking for in his journey on this earth, and although I was young in my faith, I knew he needed somebody to be there for him, help him with what God gave him. I tried my best to help all I could and give him that reciprocity that we as humans need on this earth. He poured so much, and I did my best to bring him a glass of water.

Since he’s been gone, I’m not ashamed to say I’ve lost my footing a little bit. A righteous man falls 7 times and gets up 8, and if you have taught me anything, you taught me to trust God. I don’t think this message is able to put into words my last year, it would be impossible to put into a couple paragraphs emotionally what this last year felt like.

I haven’t cried since the funeral, but I am as I type this. This might be the most emotion I’ve felt since last year. I haven’t posted much since he passed, for me I’ve had so many people leave my life that I think I treated this the same way. But God, your ways are perfect, and I think I’m done trying to make sense of this past year. It’s time to get to work. My children need what he poured into me. Men need what he poured into me. The best way to honor him is to do for my family and others what he did for me. Thank you, Lord, for my healing and help me get to doing your will. by @micheallogansr
