I’ve been looking through my past drawings I have saved in my sketchbooks & on my hard drive - many of them untouched for months & are often left unfinished. I deleted many of my old art posts & wondered why I posted them in the first place. I had to fight my inner-critics hard to get the idea out of my head that “maybe my work isn’t worth seeing? Maybe I suck at drawing. Maybe I’m not as great as an illustrator as I think I am..I’m such a fraud..” The reality is over-achievers are more likely to doubt their skills and well, imposter syndrome is real. It takes strength to show insecurities and weaknesses. It takes strength to be vulnerable..baby steps. Here’s another oldie, enjoy! 🥲

An old sketch I drew of @awkwafina but failed to share 🥲 Thought it would be fitting for Women’s History Month celebrating amazing women. From her @goldenglobes win for @thefarewell to her most recent work representing AA in @disneyraya .. looking forward to tuning into more @disneyplus this weekend 🐉

Haven’t touched my denim jeans in months but it’s okay, I’m LIVING in my comfy sweats 🙃 How about you? Took a break from human anatomy to continue studying more on (fabric) textures.
Stay hopeful fam ♥

Honestly, lost count on what day it is, but I haven’t loss interest in this hobby of mine. I’ve drawn more than the last two years combined 😅 Have you picked up any new hobbies lately? Working light-handed on a tablet while achieving pencil textures was my focus and hopefully it’s showing in my progress, enjoy! @violapolt

Utilize this time to do things you wouldn’t normally get to do because of that busy schedule. Unwind in an activity that’ll capture your attention, keep you competitive and help you grow. What’s your hobby?

Also, if you’re social distancing, thank you on flattening the curve. If you’re working because you must, thank you for keeping the community running ❤︎ Final portrait of @camimendes

In just a few days May will be over and we’re already half way through the year, how is that possible!? Most recently I’ve been trying to grasp the concept of texture and patterns in my art. Textures can be tricky esp with all the underlying elements it includes (form, line, values, etc). For an example, a portrait can capture the likeliness of it’s subjects w/o showing every strand of hair, but a bunch of stringy lines won’t contribute to a portrait’s likeliness. The last few portraits had me focusing on implied texture in hopes that my drawings will translate to something you can see and feel..art is a practice and after so many years, I’m still working on improving. Enjoy!
