Recap Pt. 2: I may have been gung-ho to start training but what I failed to remember was how HARD 😬😬 it was on your body and mind when it has been six years since the last marathon. Especially since I was on the road to have a personal best when I trained for LDN the first time around in 2019-2020. 🙃🙃🙃

However, A LOT has happened for my family and I over the past three years that most people would experience in like ten years….

I am not the same runner I was three years ago so this training cycle has been more about sustainability and being grateful that my body is still letting me do this. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽That it has helped me through so much in my life and has always been a constant. Even when life was bonkers, I knew that a run was something I could control and would feel better for it afterwards. ❤️❤️

Most people don’t know what it takes just to show up healthy and ready for a marathon starting line. The amount of details are insane. Mileage, strength training, mobility, stretching, fuel, hydration, running gear, sleep, physical therapy, massages, familial support and mental game plan on top of working a full-time job and being there for family and friends. Whew chile…..😭😭😭

Majority of my training runs have been done solo but shout-out to my teammates @salford_harriers that have shown me that I still have the grit to finish what I set out to do three years ago. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

My goal for the @londonmarathon was about relishing the moment, who I was running for @cr_uk and just to finish, even if that meant crawling to the line. I know Paula and Maggie would’ve been so incredibly proud, as well as my Popi and Mama Mel. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

In 2020, I chopped all my hair off, moved to England and became more vocal with my voice and platform. I wanted to make sure no one was confused on where I stood when it came to education, social justice, racism, activism and continuing to uplift my community.

The birth of Believe Mentoring and Tutoring came from what 2020 dealt me and my community and I wish I would’ve had the time and thought to do it sooner. So here I am, I will continue to show up every d*^% day and be intentional with my conversations, time, money, lessons, people I work for/with. I will continue to stand in my truth and KNOW MY VALUE and what I bring to the table.

I didn’t make it through 2020 alone so thank you to my village who continue to love and support me so I can continue to pour into others.

❤️ 20 years, TWO whole decades since you left us earth side and so much life lived. ❤️

After living in Vietnam 🇻🇳 and learning more about your time in service as part of the 18th Military Police Brigade during the Vietnam War has made me understand so much that I didn’t understand as a child. The long days after school, during the summers at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) post in Whitney, selling buddy poppies outside the stores and the immense pride you had as a veteran, but simultaneously the hurt that you carried from the war is a lot more visceral now.

You would be proud that your legacy continues to live on as Thomas taught about the Vietnam War in Malaysia and showed off your VFW hat and the kids were fascinated by it.

Summer 2025 was fast and furious but one we will never forget! Making up for the summer we didn’t get to have last year but it was filled with friends, family, food and so much love! I traveled to seven countries this summer which I don’t really recommend doing in such a short amount of time 🥴 but it was epic!

The summer started off with my VIP bestie Ify coming to visit us in Malaysia 🇲🇾and boyyy a time was had! I don’t take for granted the amazing friends and family that continue to show up for us over the years, especially this one. 🥰 We have traveled to ELEVEN countries together and even though we might be getting tired in our old age, not sure if we are showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. 🤣🤣🤣

Whew! Glad that year is OVER! 😅😅😅

If you have been following along on Facebook or IG stories, you will know that 2024 was probably one of the hardest years of my adult life. I wasn’t alone as my colleagues (including my husband), former students and parents had to scramble to find new jobs and schools to attend as the owner of my former school mismanaged funds, stopped paying us, and had to close down our school in April. Affecting 1,300+ students and 400+ staff members.

The second half of 2024 saw me getting to see my sissy @_averye graduate from University of North Texas, spend much needed healing time with family and friends and move… once again… to a new country, Malaysia. 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

Not what we wanted but what we needed, Malaysia has been the perfect place for the healing journey to continue. I’m looking forward to 2025 cause, baybay, it can only go up from here! The good Lord doesn’t need anymore testimonies from me! 🤣🤣🤣
Let me sit the bench Lord. 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you to those who have been my support this past year(s), it means more to me than you’ll ever know.

Life has been life-ing lately but can’t let this day go by without wishing my amazing, thoughtful and kind husband a Happy Jesus (33) year!!!

Despite all we have been through this year, (past few years) we have still been able to make some amazing memories and having you by my side is my greatest adventure! ✈️❤️🥰

It’s hard to imagine that just a month ago all my besties were in England and we were celebrating my birthday in Manchester—> fast forward to us living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam starting a new job and life in Asia.

As soon as we got off of the plane, we hit the ground runnin’. 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻

To provide y’all with some context, my last day of school in the British school system was technically July 7th but I still had some marking to do before I left the school since their actual last day was July 21st! A week later we were traveling around England showing the besties around and then we were on a plane to Vietnam a week after that. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

Once we got off of the plane this was our sequence of life:

(First full) Day 1: Toured seven apartments with a realtor.
Day 2: Visited the school for the first time and tried to get ourselves ready for the first day of school the next day.
Day 3: Started the first day of school with kids!
Day 4: Second day of school, moved into our skyline apartment that night then met up with Thomas’ uncle.
Day 5: Went to a Saigon Heat Professional Basketball game with our crew @sandotravels !!!

To say that the last two months have been a whirlwind is an understatement. We have found a beautiful apartment that has a gorgeous view of the city, we are reunited with our besties, 🥰🥰🥰 the Vietnamese community is absolutely amazing and that includes our students! ❤️❤️❤️ We are waiting for our notorious troublesome kitty to join us in the next few weeks! 😼😼😼😼 We are also starting to feel like ourselves again and that is what makes me the happiest about this big decision to leave England after such a hard time gaining the visa to live there. It just wasn’t meant to be, at least not right now. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’m at that age in my life where you forget how old you actually are hahaha 💀💀💀💀

I’m almost recovered from my birthday but wow…having my besties from Texas in England on my birthday was a dream come true!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥹🥹🥹

We celebrated with an amazing three course dinner at @theblueskitchenmcr where they happened to have a, “Taste of Texas” menu 🤠🤠🤠 and it did not disappoint!!!

This past year brought me the following:

✨Modelling for UK LUSH’s Snow Fairy Line 🧚🏽‍♀️🧚🏽‍♀️🧚🏽‍♀️

✨Teaching in the British school system 🙃🙃🙃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

✨ Running the 2022 London Marathon 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

✨ Traveling to Spain 🇪🇸Hungary 🇭🇺 Czechia 🇨🇿 Netherlands 🇳🇱 with instagramless Ify

✨Lululemon Women of Color Trail Running event with @erynbarber @lululemoneurope

✨ FINALLY getting to witness the greatness that is Queen Bey 👸🏾❤️✨💃🏽 with @asia_gram

✨Getting to spend a whole week with Besties + their hubbies @jasminezgram @motherhood_wellness @loganspacek4 @mandakay11 traveling through England!!

✨ My older, adult sister who JUST got a passport coming to visit me abroad for the first time ever! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Despite the stressful transition of moving to Vietnam, I am incredibly blessed and overwhelmed by all of the love that surrounds me (us). 🥹🥹🥹🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

✨LIFE UPDATE✨

As we celebrate six years together, we are finally able to let the world wide web know that we are headed to Vietnam 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳 next month on our next adventure!

We accepted teaching positions back in April so life has been HECTIC to say the least! 🤣🤣🤣 been trying to cross off items off of our English bucket list as we only have a few weeks left (fingers crossed for visa paperwork 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽)

We are sad to leave family and forever friends that I’ve met since moving to England but so excited for this next chapter in our lives!!! From Man City games, family doos, all the music gigs and nights out in the Village, Manchester you have made me a Northern Lass and owe me nothing!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Cheers to another adventure! 🥂🥂🥂
