I jumped right into Sampler September with needle flying. Since I’m so very single minded when I stitch, this month proves challenging for me. To see everyone post the grand list of the new starts and WIPS leaves me envious and a bit chagrined at my singular effort.

But then I become enraptured by the beauty that begins to emerge. I’m never settled until all the silks are on the linen and I can begin to see everything come to life.

My new start is The Checkerboard House Sampler Eliza Gagin 1842. I’m stitching her on Mason Linen Petticoat Dark 46 count with The Attic 100/3 silk conversion. by @michellersmitherman

It’s an August 31 finish! Just in time to start Sampler September. This one is truly one of my favorites. I love the subtle yet powerful motif of the cross and the lamb. The juxtaposition of hopeful beginnings and a seemingly ignominious ending in such a testament to hope. The butterfly that emerges from that motif is representative of enduring faith.
I decided to replace Julia’s name with one of my favorite Bible verses. It’s fitting for this time in my life. Or at least what I’m hoping this time is remembered for

I do not know which is more exciting for me. The anticipation of walking into The Frame Shop to begin the selection to frame a piece I’ve spent weeks/months working on. Or, returning to see the finished product.
All I can say is I’m never disappointed.

The caliber of creativity and professionalism is unmatched. They have framed family portraits, senior portraits, wedding pictures and now my quiet little hobby. Every project is a piece of art.

I have been led down Gingerbread Lane. It all started with Episode 88 with Katie Strachan and her start of the Stacy Nash Gingerbread Sewing Book. I loved her conversion and watched in amazement as she did so many variations on it. I quickly purchased Bijoux, Accentuate, Surfine, Gobelins, Miyuki bugle beads, etc.
Then I had to wait a full year for last years’ Jingle Ball to get the chart. And everything else Stacy Nash released.
Then who comes into the FlossTube world but Lisa and her gingerbread mania. Well, that put me into full blown Gingerbread Village! And every village needs trees! Well, now I need green linen. And newer houses! A Cape Cod Crosshatch and Single Family Sawtooth. More gingerbread looking linen.
I am set for my Christmas stitching this year. I can picture the vignette in my head. by @michellersmitherman

There I was merrily stitching along, little rule follower that I am. So excited to be able to turn the page and finish my butterfly. The difference between being 6 inches away from your project and stepping away from it is a ghosting cross.

Then there’s the overnight thought process of do I frog or not. Well, I frogged! Now I can move ahead.

I am participating in the Blackbird Academy SAL. Normally, I’m a monogamous stitcher. I am content watching the beauty unfold. I’ve been lured by the camaraderie and infectious enthusiasm of our leaders @mrsjonesstitches and @leah.r.bloom

I’m stitching Bittersweet September from Winds of Autumn on XJuDesign 40 count Mossy Terracotta. I’m using my own silk conversion.

I purposefully picked a small one because it’s going to be difficult putting Julia Rachel De La Mare down for a bit. by @michellersmitherman
