In celebration of International Women’s Day, here’s a little about me. 🪴

I have 2 university degrees: 1) B.A. in psychology, and 2) B. Ed. in elementary education. This didn’t come easy. I only passed two classes in high school and I didn’t know “how” to learn. More than that, I didn’t know “how I learn best.” At 23, after some fun jobs, I knew I was meant to do more. I went to college to upgrade to get into university to study psychology. I wanted to be a Child Psychologist. I faced my fear of math and went head first into learning how to learn, and the rest is history! 🪴

As my circus friends might remember (@ericvonbraun , @areestrada , @kriziacarr , @earl.d.schmidt , @mitchrivera , @konstantinsandou ) , I was offered a year long contract with a circus to choreograph and perform in part of the show, to sing the National Anthem, and to tutor the children with their schoolwork. But, the universe had a change of plan for me: I got my first “A” in university!!! I couldn’t turn away from that as I’d worked so hard for it, so I stayed at school. A huge part of me missed the idea of training and traveling with the circus, as I’d done it for a little bit and made some wonderful lifelong friends. But on the other hand, I knew that staying in Uni was the right thing to do at that time. 🪴

I feel that the more we know ourselves, the easier it is to make tough decisions. It’s not just about making a strong cerebral decision; it’s about listening to how we feel deep inside about making that decision. So, it’s a good balance between the head and the heart. And today, I’m still in touch with those circus friends… and that makes me feel so happy!🪴

In celebration of International Women’s Day, here’s a little about me. 🪴

I’m from England! I grew up performing on stage since the age of nine. I sang, danced and acted all the way to Canada. I “knew” I’d be professional one day… and I did just that. I even taught Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre to children. Becoming a wedding and country music DJ was an adventure I loved for years! Yet, as I grew and evolved, so did my interests. I found a love behind the camera… and this is where I belong. Excitement, creativity and passion are just some of the emotions I feel in this career - and I wouldn’t change it for a minute! I truly feel as though I’m defying gravity! 🪴

Here’s my dear friend and colleague, @wendyranchmans , who won Industry Person of the Year at this year’s @yycmusicawards ! She’s pictured here with Carlo, the owner of the legendary @ranchmans.ca . Wendy is synonymous with Ranchman’s, and anyone who’s ever performed there knows her. She’s changed the lives of countless artists, giving them the chance to perform on the stage that bears her name (yup, it’s The Wendy Daniel Stage!) I’ve personally known Wendy for about 20 years, and thank her for hiring me as a Stampede DJ for 11 Stampedes. Her generosity truly changed my life.
