May is Mental Health Awareness month, which as you know I’m a big supporter of. Not everyone struggles with a mental illness, which makes it hard for those people to understand when someone is struggling. So I urge you to educate yourself on what depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc can present as.

Someone can seem happy on the outside, but are struggling on the inside. I know for me, my issue has always been maintaining friendships due to low self-esteem and social anxiety. Then it gets to the point where I’m no longer invited to anything. I also struggle with depressive episodes which leave me in bed for days.

Why am I sharing this? Because for so long I’ve felt so alone and I just want to connect with even just one person. I also want to raise awareness that mental health might not manifest as what you believe. Just remember be kind to other people even if you don’t understand their struggle, but also be kind to yourself 💚

What a year. First my GG passed away in April and 2 months later my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Nothing has rattled me more than seeing my mom go through this for 6 months. All I can say is she is a warrior and my inspiration. Even going through 7 rounds of chemo, she still supported me during my depressive episodes. She even accompanied me to the ER for a mental health crisis when her mom was on hospice. She has seen me through these mental health crises and has been my support system even though she was sick. Anyone you knows my mom, knows she is selfless and so caring. She is my hero and I’m so proud to call her my mom. Ring that bell Mom and end 2024 #cancerfree !! I love you.

This has definitely been one of the hardest years for myself and my family. I struggle with depression and anxiety and it takes a toll on myself and my family. My goal for 2025 is to find love for myself and prioritize the people who are close to me. Another goal of mine is to find meaningful connections and have a close group of friends. With that being said, I also want to beat this depression that can sometimes shut everything down for me. I’ve struggled my whole life with it and if anyone resonates with this, DM me and we can chat. This is the first time I’m opening up about it and I feel like that’s the first step.

My final goal is for my mom to beat stage 4 ovarian cancer and start 2025 healthy and ready to conquer whatever comes her way. She’s the bravest person I know and she’s a fighter. #cancersucks🎗 taken in Bend, Oregon by @michellestaiger_
