He’s got an awesome sense of humor, inspiring curiosity, loves his friends and family, and he’s the only person the dog listens to.

I’m so lucky to be his mom.

Perhaps Elliott’s last day of school picture!

Elliott is having a huge year as he finishes his dissertation for his research with the SuperCDMS group. He also got appointed as Deputy Chair for the Salting Group with SuperCDMS, he’s a TA for 3 Physics classes (1301W) with discussions and labs, and also a GradPhi Officer (grad student organization), and he is a senior shift operator with SnoLab that helps with detector operation and output values.

Phew! Here’s to a great year! Grandpa would be so incredibly proud. by @michelletanner

18 years felt like 18 seconds.

Dear Elliott,

Life with you has been more than we could ever have imagined. You have brought so much light into our lives. Everyday we’ve been able to live in your amazing world of wonder, humor, smiles, playfulness, inquiry, and kindness. You’ve keep us on our toes, you make us laugh, you teach us about the universe.

While I know technically parents raise their kids, we have had the honor to be in your world, to do what we could for you to be who you are, for you to thrive and grow the way you knew you needed. We are so incredibly proud of the person you are and we hope that you had as much fun along the way as we did.

The world is yours and we hope that we’ve shown you that you can do absolutely anything. You have no limits.

Thank you for letting us be your parents. You taught us more about life, humanity, the world than we ever could have experienced without you.

Happy 18th birthday, Elliott. You are our world and we’ve been so blessed to be in yours.

Someone turns 18 at 12:26am, August 1st. My heart is holding so many different emotions. What a lovely, intense, wild, and fast ride it’s been. My heart is a little broken that he’s grown, but so full of pride and happiness for the man he has grown into. ❤️ by @michelletanner

Happy 9th birthday to our sweet Winston Gustav! You are so handsome, so sweet, a good protector, so funny and playful, and just the best little buddy we could ever wish for. He got to go to Chuck & Dons to pick out two new dog toys, a new bone, and a bag of treats to celebrate! 🎂 🎉 taken in Minneapolis, Minnesota by @michelletanner

We just dropped Elliott off at the airport for his first trip on his own. He’s headed to Vancouver, Canada for a week of collaboration meetings with his SuperCDMS research team at the University of British Columbia. We’re so incredibly proud of the opportunities he’s earned through years of hard work!

No one really prepares you for the “lasts” and the new firsts that come with them. In less than two weeks, he’ll be 18. This mama is feeling all the things. 🥹

Have an amazing week, Elliott! Enjoy every minute and have so much fun! ❤️ by @michelletanner

My first Father’s Day without you. It doesn’t feel real. You were the best Dad. So loving, generous, kind, the life of the party. We’re really trying, but the weight of you missing is too much. by @michelletanner
