After many years of posting many photos and reviews, I am now a max Level 10 Guide on Google Maps.

I admit that doesn't get me any more massages or clean dishes, even though it may have contributed a small amount to the lives of others. But it was a goal I worked hard for and that I am proud of!

Very proud of this Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. My own potatoes and tomatoes, first time I made my own gnocchi (not the first time I made my own roasted tomato sauce!). Grilled to perfection with lots of basil and good mozzarella. It tastes a-ma-zing: the gnocchi are so potato-ey, and the depth, sweetness and richness of the roasted home grown tomato sauce shone through too. by @mickblok

I was very lucky to see the America's Cup teams practicing in Naples this week, with Capri island in the beautiful background. It's the oldest sports trophy in the world.

These boats reach 100 km/h without much trouble. The racing will occupy the better part of a year from now on. It's fantastic to follow on TV, but maybe I'll get a chance to see it for real.

Until you've tasted a Caprese Salad with Mick's Cuor di Bue tomatoes, you haven't fully lived.

OK, that's an exaggeration but OMG OMG this is so good. I'm eating this daily at the moment. That is also the only way to get rid of the glut. If you're nearby, drop by!

The Covadonga Lakes in the Picos de Europa National Park. Proclaimed the most beautiful landscape on the planet last April by Time Out.

Not easy to get to, with an effective fixed admittance per day, but only the Dolomites are comparable for beauty. by @mickblok

The "Final Lap" Zandvoort Grand Prix today. The atmosphere was great, the circuit is beautiful in its dune surroundings, the race was exciting and everything was organized very well. Had a great time, got home very tired.

Two less good things: Max crashed immediately. And this was the last Dutch GP.

Day 15, and final day, of the EEORE eclipse odyssey. Orléans and Versailles!

Not my first time to Versailles, but still struck by the opulence, size, audacity and fun of this, the world's palace of reference. I was prepared for large amounts of anti-Dutch propaganda in the Hall of Mirrors. Louis XIV was not a pacifist or a democrat. It's OK after 350 years.

Orléans is actually very nice. It has a lovely old city center and dominant position next to what used to be the major river Loire. The Joan of Arc statue is the centerpiece.

Now I'm home safe. Truly an adventure. The eclipse was the emotional and esthetic highlight of course. But I got to see so many wonderful world class sights that I had been wanting to visit for so long. A hard won privilege, since it was a busy 2 weeks!

Day 14 of the EEORE trip. Chambord Castle! I have seen it appear countless times in movies, ads, whatever. The most famous chateau of the most famous chateau region, the Loire valley. Wanted to go my whole life.

But it's better. Much better. I didn't know how old it is (early 1500s). How subtle and engaging and fun and genius the architecture is. The perfect state of maintenance. The beauty and scale. The double spiral staircase, free standing and scarily high, is the centerpiece for me.

The only downside is the drab white dead grass we all have now in W Europe. And the lack of a Loire at the moment. Maybe it'll rain soon and maybe Summers will go back to normal. OK, just joking.

Tomorrow it's Versailles and then home, inshallah!
