1949 Bowman Satchel Paige. This was my only Strongsville card pickup. I went not knowing what I would come home with. I like to just let the cards “talk to me”. This one wasn’t just talking, it was singing. I have been doing research for a Satchel Paige history episode on my channel, so I guess that was where my mind was. Satch has such an interesting story. He saw the world while playing the game that he loved. The game that gave him fame and most of all, Fortune. This particular card was sitting in @mickeymantlecards case. Sean is a great guy with some killer cards, both in his collection and in his cases for sale. We worked out a deal, but he was cash only. In the middle of figuring out how I could get the card, since I didn’t have enough cash, David Chase walked up. He told me he could give me the cash that I needed to complete the deal. Then I just sent him a PayPal to reimburse him for the cash. I was so excited to be able to walk away with the card. It’s a perfect example of that particular card. It has registration, centering, color pops, and it’s Satchmo. At that very moment, a thought went through my mind that hadn’t occurred to me before. MBA was set up 150 feet away. I decided to see if Mike Baker agreed with my assessment. I dropped the card off and it was ready in 3 hours. I knew it was good news when Mike told me I owed him $325. He handed me the card and I ain’t gonna lie, I was pretty excited. Some of my buddies had done the same thing the day before. Some got silver, some got gold, but most got nothing. I told Mike thank you, but he said that he wasn’t to thank, it was the card that did the work. lol. He was very nice and asked to take my picture with my card. I surprised him and asked to take his picture with the card. I would never send off one of my nice cards to try and get a sticker, but it was so easy to just get it looked at in that room. I also wouldn’t buy that card at the price it would command with the sticker, but I do like having the sticker to help the value of the card after buying it. In the meantime, sticker or not, I will enjoy the card for as long as I have it. by @mickeymantlecards

Where were you July 4, 1986? This July 4th 1986 SCD ad is the first time the public was offered the opportunity to buy cards from the “Find of the Century” of Gem Mint 1952 Topps high numbers including the legendary #311 Mickey Mantle. Imagine the opportunity to buy this card gorgeous $3500🤯🤯🤯 of course it’s a lot of money back then, but this is the find that produced the (3) PSA 10 Gem Mint Mantle cards and the best one according to Rosen he sold for $50,000 to a gentleman who held the card for years and finally had it graded a 9.5 Gem Mint by SGC. Ultimately the card sold in Heritage for close to $13,000,000.

If this find of Gem Mint 1952 High Numbers were sold individually today, what do you think the sales total would be in today’s market? One thing that is becoming more and more important in the hobby is pedigree; where did the fund come from and linage etc. Lmk your thoughts In the comments. #SGC #PSA #1952topps #mickeymantle #auction #cards by @mickeymantlecards

I am a huge Goudey collector and love Gehrig and Ruth cards. This 1933 Goudey #160 Lou Gehrig PSA 6 is a really nice example with nice centering and color. One of my favorite sets and a classic card of the “Iron Horse”. Do you collect Goudey? What do you love about this issue? #PSA #SGC #Goudey #gehrig #lougehrig by @mickeymantlecards

Please watch this video to Find out how 10-15 years ago I was incredibly lucky enough to become the owner of (in my opinion) the finest
1953 Bowman Color Mickey Mantle card in the hobby. I knew about the card for many years and I always said I would make a effort to own it if it ever went up for sale. Unfortunately for me I somehow fell asleep on auction night and didn’t win the card ending up as the under bidder. I was so upset at myself and thought I would never get another shot at it. About 3-4 weeks went by and the auction house called me and told me the high bidder informed them that he could not pay for the card because “he was in jail” lol. It took me about 10 seconds to tell him I wanted the card after I recovered from shock and laughter- I was reminded of this story when I read the buyer of the 1979 OPC hockey case has not paid for the item and apparently won’t be paying for the case. Sometimes there are second chances :) #mint9 #sgc #psa #auction #mickeymantle #cards #mint #finest #hof by @mickeymantlecards
