It’s been a minute but Ave, Esch & I had a KILLER boys day today! Townhouse > Lake Nona Aquapark > nap time > dinosaurs & candy 🍭

I think my favorite was watching Esch jump off the top of Mt Rainer at the aqua park, which I would imagine is about 16 or 17 feet high… dude was just fearless.

I was on top and he just jumped first and then wanted me to do it, so I did… and in the process lost my favorite pair of Oakley’s. They were even in my hand so they wouldn’t fly off my head, but the crash as I hit the water crushed them and broke the lens frame and one of the arms off, which promptly sank to the bottom of the lake. A proper Floridian sunglasses death 💀

A good friend and colleague called me a few minutes ago and shared with me a brief anecdote about how his daughter crushed an endurance athletic event (water polo - she played the whole match)… and she was ultimately offered a spot on the Junior Olympic team! When she was asked why she didn’t get tired, she talked about her training and attributed it to watching her father train incessantly for years… she just did the same thing.

They are always watching.

The timing of the call was poignant for me… I was literally about to climb into the truck with Claire & the boys to do a Griswold-style cross country trip, and it reminded me to be present. Cause they are watching, and despite my training I’m still prone to be my work-a-holic self.

So we took this picture before we left… and I find myself staring at it, wondering… will I actually listen?
