She loved New Orleans so much, we talked about moving down here at some point. How fitting, this picture; how funny life is. New Orleans is new adventure for me, a step forward I could not have made without her.

Thirty years on and this song sounds as exciting as when I saw him all those years ago. (It was really only yesterday, wasn’t it?) Also interesting: I think my Ex is here. Would make sense, she lives in Southwest Florida and loved Manson and New Orleans. Anyway, here’s “The Beautiful People.”

Second show of two nights commemorating the 30-year Anniversary of “Antichrist Superstar,” recorded here in New Orleans, the sound is 100 times better and the Fillmore is wall to wall fanatics. The classic lineup of Spooky Kids may not be intact, but bassist Tim Skold and guitarist Piggy D’Amour (along with second guitarist Nick Annis and drummer Gil Sharone) more than make up for this. The problematic Mr. Manson was excellent last night but that show already seemed like a warmup for tonight. #marilynmanson taken in The Fillmore New Orleans by @mickstingley

Apparently the Saints owner is Judy Garland (and not from “Summer Stock”)!

I’m sharing this for those friends of mine in media and anyone who loved her, but Sass Jordan passed. It was announced on her socials about an hour ago. I liked her her ‘chick swagger rock thing’ and that she sometimes sounded like a boozy Chris Robinson. The song I linked is one of her biggest hits: check her out if haven’t already. ❤️💛💚Rest In Peace. by @mickstingley

A bit of the Austin’s The English Channels (Cure tribute) covering “Pictures of You.” New Orleans can be a funny place sometimes, as far as music appreciation goes. Having lived in NYC for so long, I’m used to getting to clubs early to stake out a good spot; here people strike me as blithe spirits who will get there when they get there, Darling! Sure enough, three songs into their set, @subdivision_nola had a full house; so when @theenglishchannels took the stage, it was pretty crowded. It was definitely a Gen X crowd on an 80s pilgrimage, but it felt right because both bands are so good. (Also, if I wasn’t afflicted with “New Kid At School” social anxiety disorder, I probably wouldn’t be seeing tributes to Joy Division and The Cure.) It was also a long day. Meantime, I have now seen excellent tributes to Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Smiths, Blondie and these fine lads. I don’t know if any exist, but I would love to see a Bauhaus or Sisters of Mercy tribute here; or maybe @gangoffourofficial could just book a New Orleans show!
