Although God did not make me a writer, he did make me his scribe. Inspired by some amazing writers on here, I’ve worked up the courage to give substack a try.

Borges intentionally made the Library impossible to understand, but a very blurry image of it and its atmosphere started to take shape after gathering all of the words that gave me a sense of space and scale. Also ironically, by the Library’s logic, this series of characters exists somewhere inside of it! by @midcenturylamp

I am a bit embarrassed by how little I know about film, but earlier this year I decided to change that. I set a goal of watching 150 films before the end of the year. This past week I watched:

Sai’s All Under the Moon
Kurosawa’s Rashomon
Laloux’s Fantastic Planet

And since I have an obsession with documenting things, this little side project is no exception by @midcenturylamp

There is so much flexibility when representing architecture. I personally enjoy using more tangible mediums, like this Kodak slide projector. Design is felt in multiple senses, so the representation should do nothing less. The buildings silhouetted are: Robert Venturi’s house for his mother Vanna Venturi, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum, and Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye.

I’ve posted about François Blanciak’s Tokyoids on here before, the book about finding robotic faces in architecture throughout the city. As the facades are attempting to mimic human faces, I thought it would be a fun project to mimic those attempts. I started to get really awkward, uneasy, and exaggerated expressions by trying to copy them. For this project, I printed and layered the buildings over my self portraits with transparency paper and got the final result with my overhead projector.
