We know, we know, it’s technically in Culver City, but can we just claim it as the hottest new restaurant at the EDGE of West Adams? Yes, we can! We hit @picala.la for night two, and we’re enamored! We didn’t realize how much we needed Spanish tapas and paella until we ordered for the table and shared each delectable bite. Picala is a restaurant rooted in the Spanish tradition of sharing food as community and for connection. In this spirit, they’ve got a killer bar, a large patio and an even bigger, more beautiful dining room. The food was fresh, tasty and something different! Here’s what we had... 🐟Sardine Escabeche: Yes, the sardine was to die for, perched upon toasted bread with cilantro and aioli for the win. 🥗Shaved Asparagus: The thin strips had us wanting more. 🥔 Patatas Bravas: Are you even a tapas lover if you don’t order them? A yummy staple. 🍖Croquetas de Jamon: So good. We’ll add the cauliflower and blue cheese ones to the order next time we go. 🥚 Tortilla Espanola: Think thick Spanish omelette with bechamel on top. Thick and delicious. 🐙 Pulpo a la Plancha: Wood-fired octopus with a flavorful sauce. 🥘 Paella: We went with the classic chicken and chorizo, but we’re excited to work our way down the menu. We washed it down with both the sangrias, and the cocktail list looked fresh and curated.
