Last night we wrapped up our 2025-2026 year in athletics at our Colts Achievement Awards Banquet. In addition to the team awards presented by our coaches, we also handed out our departmental awards, which are voted on by our staff and coaches. Congratulations to the NBA Champion New York Knicks! Did you know Karl Towns, Karl-Anthony’s father, played on the 1980-81 Middlesex College Men’s Basketball team? He is #52 in the team photo. taken in Middlesex College by @middlesexcolts

Huge news for two fantastic Colts baseball players as AJ Gonzalez and Stanley Bobadilla were named to the NJCAA All-American Teams! AJ was named 2nd Team AA while Stanley was 3rd Team.

Interestingly, there have been three times in Middlesex College Baseball program history where we have had two All-Americans in the same season: 1996, 2006 and now 2026. They are the 17th and 18th All-Americans in program history and second and third AAs for Head Coach CJ Mooney. Last season, Ryan Rzepinski was named 2nd Team All-American. Prior to that, MC hadn’t had an AA since 2006.

Had a great surprise visit today at Middlesex College. Neil and Robert, alums who played on the 1968 & 1969 Men’s Basketball team at MC stopped in to visit their old gym for the first time in decades!

Neil Kennett, a US Army veteran, was the Wagner Men’s Basketball Coach from 1982-1989, taking over for PJ Carlesimo when he left for Seton Hall. Kennett coached against legends like Lou Carneseca, Rollie Massimino, Jerry Tarkanian and Digger Phelps and many others. His biggest win though was when he took his Wagner squad down to Duke and beat Mike Kryzewski’s Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Arena in 1982.

Middlesex College, seeded 4th and ranked #10 in the country, beats #1 RCSJ-Gloucester, the three time defending national champs and current #3 team nationally, in the Region 19 D3 Baseball semifinals! #4 Middlesex College sweeps #5 Northampton in two games to advance to the semifinals of the Region 19 Baseball Tournament! The Colts will face top seed RCSJ-Gloucester in the next round. On May 27, 2026 we will be holding our annual Colts Achievement Awards! The event is held in the Parkview Room in West Hall on the campus of Middlesex College. It begins at 5:00PM. All coaches, athletes and athletics staff are invited.

We will celebrate all the great accomplishments of our athletes and coaches and hand out our major awards. Awards include our Male & Female Athletes of the Year, Coach of the Year, Shannon Williams Colts Spirit Award and the Vincent DeSario Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence.

Gianna Rios broke a 15-15 tie in the bottom of the 6th as Middlesex College Softball saved their most productive game of the season for their final day of completion. The Colts picked up a win in a continuation of a previously halted game and then swept a doubleheader from RCSJ-Gloucester to end their season on a high note. Middlesex College Athletics would like to wish photographer Fred Sly all the best in his new role working at Middlesex County. We will miss him and his work tremendously at the college and our department.

Fred has taken so many incredible photographs during his time here, capturing fantastic moments in competition, at our special events and in all the great media day sessions he orchestrated. I know our students, staff & coaches enjoyed Fred’s professionalism, creativity and his willingness to work nights or weekends and in good or bad weather. Congrats to Middlesex College Baseball on an 8-7 win over Raritan Valley. Always awesome to dust off a scholarship level team. The win is the 30th on the season for Middlesex! The Colts have now won at least 30 games in each of the past 5 seasons. The program is currently ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA National Poll. This is also the 5th straight year we have been ranked in the top 10 nationally.
