Hi. I’m Jaime, and welcome to Midlife in Mouse Ears! 🏰

I’m 49, in perimenopause, and after a 30 year hiatus from Disney World, went back and somehow became a Disney Adult.

Over the past few years, perimenopause turned my life upside down. It cranked up the ADHD I never knew I had and made everyday a chaotic mess. 🤪

I also lost 100 pounds and I still struggle with recognizing the person I now see in the mirror. I’m caring for my mom in the middle of it all, too.

I hadn’t been to Disney World in 30 years, and 3 years ago I went back. It instantly became the place that quieted my chaotic brain and gave me so much joy.

So I started this account to share the honest, funny, messy side of midlife: perimenopause, ADHD, body image, caregiving and a lot of Disney.

If you’re in the middle of your own chaos, I’m glad you’re here. You’re not alone. Let’s navigate this craziness together. ☺️

What’s the one thing you’d do pain-free if you could? Mine was walking at Disney World all day. 🏰

Three years ago I was taking Advil like candy. Today, 100 pounds lighter, I’m out here with energy to spare.

Tell me your goal below, I’d love to hear it! 👇

Losing 100lbs: Spirit Jersey Edition.

2X is the size of the jersey I bought on my first trip back to Disney World after 30 years.

Medium is the size I wear now. And It still feels unreal.

Going to the parks now is such a different experience for me. I can walk all day, and I’m not in pain. I used to always keep Advil close, but now it’s just my Lactaid pills. 😉

What’s a “look how far I’ve come” moment for you?

Follow along for ADHD, Shopping addiction, Perimenopause and a whole lot of Disney.

Disney is mocking me!

I’m trying to be good with my ADHD impulse spending so I add things to my cart and wait 24 hours.

Apparently, I waited too long this time and they wanted to make sure I knew. 😑

Now I will resist the urge to look for it on eBay. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not spending money is a lot harder than I thought. 😩

Has this ever happened to you? Tell me I’m not the only one who struggles with this.

Entry 2 of my Spending Recovery Diaries: The @orbitkey Disney Villains sling bag has arrived. 💜

They said only 1,000 were being made, so naturally this is 100% their fault. 😅 Okay fine, it’s mine. But “limited edition” is my kryptonite.

This is what ADHD plus FOMO looks like, and I’m trying to be honest about it instead of pretending I have it all figured out.

Do you also struggle with FOMO purchases?

Follow along for the recovery… and the relapses. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Massachusetts: coat and hot coffee. Florida: sweating and iced coffee. ☕️🧊

My coffee order changes with the weather, and so does my mood. 🙃

Disney is my happy place, and my brain knows it. Late-diagnosed ADHD plus perimenopause means the noise in my head is loud, and this walk is where it finally quiets down. 💛

Where’s YOUR happy place walk? Tell me below 👇

Update on my impulse spending journey: it’s going great. (It is not.) 😭🎄

Disney dropped Dale as the Santa candle from Pluto’s Christmas Tree and my budget just left the chat. I literally bought a $100 Muppets Loungefly LAST WEEK.

Fellow ADHD brains, tell me I’m not alone. What’s the last thing you “rescued” that wasn’t in the plan? 👇

Follow along while I try (and fail) to stay on budget. Accountability is welcome. 🫡

Two packages showed up today and I’m opening them on camera because I’m trying to be honest about my ADHD impulse spending. 📦

Here’s the part nobody tells you: the thrill is in the “add to cart,” not the box. By the time it arrives, my brain has already moved on. 🙃

I’m starting a little series called ‘Spending Recovery Diaries’ to track what’s working, what isn’t, and where I slip. No judgement, just real life living with a late-diagnosed ADHD brain in perimenopause.

What’s the last thing YOU bought and forgot about? Tell me below, I promise I won’t judge. 👇

Follow along if you want to do this together. 💛 Full YouTube video coming soon. Link in bio. #adhd #impulsespending #unboxing #disneyadult by @midlifeinmouseears

“Thank you for making me a part of this” @loungefly

Run, don’t walk to grab this bag.

Is The Muppet Christmas Carol one of your favorites, too? Who’s your favorite? Gonzo or Rizzo?

I troubleshot my monitor for 20 minutes today. Unplugged everything. Called IT. The one thing I didn’t try? The power button. 🙃

Perimenopause has turned my brain into a buffering mess. Some days I’m lucky I remember my name. 🤪

Tell me your most recent brain- fog moment so I know I’m not alone. ⬇️

My rule: no Disney World between June and September. The best is no joke, especially with perimenopause. 🥵

This year I broke it. My cousin invited me to MNSSHP, and I couldn’t pass up the lower prices and crowds.

Here’s what helped me survive (and enjoy) my trip:

🪭A handheld fan. It saves me so many times.

☂️ A UV umbrella for when there’s no shade.

🌅Early entry! You can get a lot done before the real heat sets in.

🚿 A midday shower and outfit change. Total reset.

Disney World in the summer is still doable, but only if you plan for it.

Your turn: what’s your best tip for staying cool at Disney, or anywhere during midlife? Tell me below! 👇
