Never fails to disappoint👎🏻

Yair Rodriguez is out of Noche UFC, and UFC fans are getting sick of the constant issues surrounding this guy. Another big opportunity, another fight that isn’t happening. At this point it feels like every time Yair gets booked, fans have to wonder whether he’s actually going to make it to fight night. Noche UFC was supposed to be a major card for him, and instead we’re once again talking about Rodriguez for something that happened outside of the cage.

The frustration with Yair has been building for a while, and this pullout definitely isn’t helping his reputation with fans. Between long stretches of inactivity, fights falling apart, and all the drama that seems to follow him, people are simply running out of patience. You can only get excited for someone’s return so many times before you stop caring. For a fighter who continues to get big opportunities from the UFC, fans are starting to question why they should even get invested in his fights until he’s physically standing inside the Octagon.

Might be the worst press conference I’ve ever watched in regards to questions and entertainment👎🏻

UFC press conferences just don’t hit the same anymore. There was a time when they were genuinely part of the entertainment of fight week. You had real rivalries, fighters who actually knew how to talk, and moments that felt unpredictable instead of forced. Now half the press conferences feel like everyone is just waiting to give the same safe answers before going home. Outside of a few fighters, there’s barely any personality or actual back-and-forth anymore.

The questions have somehow gotten even worse. Instead of asking something that might actually get an interesting response, it’s the same recycled stuff about game plans, training camps, title aspirations, or “what would a win mean to you?” Then you get the occasional reporter trying way too hard to create a viral moment. Press conferences used to make you more excited for the fights. Now you can watch 40 minutes and feel like you learned absolutely nothing.

Kamaru and Colby beef was generational

Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman gave us one of the best rivalries of their era, and both fights delivered. The first one at UFC 245 was an absolute war, with both guys throwing nonstop for nearly five rounds before Usman finally broke through and finished Colby late. Covington had plenty of success, but Usman’s power and pressure eventually became too much.

They ran it back at UFC 268, and this time Colby survived all five rounds after getting dropped twice early. He battled his way back into the fight and made the later rounds extremely competitive, but Usman had already done enough to take the unanimous decision. Two fights, ten rounds of bad blood, and probably the toughest matchup either guy had during their run at the top of the welterweight division.

No News? Here’s this Joshua Van edit again✅

Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja are officially running it back at UFC 331. Their first fight ended in just 26 seconds after Pantoja suffered a freak arm injury during a scramble, giving Van the belt without either guy really getting the chance to show anything. Now Pantoja is healthy again and finally gets his opportunity to try and take back the title he never really got the chance to defend against Van.

This time there shouldn’t be any questions about who the better fighter is. Van has since defended the belt against Tatsuro Taira, while Pantoja has spent months recovering and waiting for another shot. They’ll run it back September 19 in the main event of UFC 331, and hopefully this time we actually get to see these two fight.

Quillan next up. Huge Statement🇦🇺

Quillan Salkilld just made a massive statement against Mateusz Gamrot. Gamrot has been one of the toughest guys at lightweight for years and had never been an easy guy to put away, but Salkilld went in there and finished him in the first round. At only 26 years old, he’s now gone from an exciting prospect to a legitimate problem at 155.

Salkilld’s rise through the UFC has been ridiculous. He’s already put away guys like Nasrat Haqparast, Jamie Mullarkey and Beneil Dariush, and now he can add Gamrot to the list. Taking out an established top lightweight like that in your first UFC main event is about as big of a statement as you can make. It’s probably time to start talking about Salkilld as a real title contender.

It’s not like they have a choice but this just seems cruel😭

Tai Tuivasa and Kelvin Gastelum are both getting thrown into some pretty ridiculous matchups. Tai has already lost a bunch in a row and instead of giving him someone around his level to get back on track, they’ve decided to throw him right back into another fight where he could be in serious trouble.

Kelvin is basically in the same situation. He’s been struggling for a while now and desperately needs a win, but the UFC clearly isn’t interested in making that easy for him. Both of these guys are already on thin ice and somehow their next fights only got harder. Whoever made these matchups has definitely seen enough.

Exposed by your own brother is crazy

Ian Garry is catching a ton of heat after his own brother publicly disputed parts of the story Garry has told about his upbringing. If those allegations are true, it’s a rough look. One of the biggest criticisms isn’t just about whether parts of his background were exaggerated it’s that he appeared to dismiss the people who raised him while building an image that painted a completely different picture.

Fans can forgive a lot in MMA, but authenticity is one thing they don’t let slide. Getting called out by your own family hits differently than random internet drama, and it’s why this situation has blown up so fast. Until Garry gives a clear response, people are going to keep questioning whether the image he’s built matches reality.
