Feeding the algo with my face ~ and Some Bruny island Love.💚 5 mins but I hope you have a listen to me fumbling as I explain my internal struggles with yoga 😌

Fully aware that right now, Palestine needs us, as do so many other countries / causes and people.

And I question and ~ I wonder where are all the teachers / leaders speaking up for them? The silence amongst meditation schools and yoga schools is deafening.

The idea that one style or tradition is the most pure or better than the rest or the most yogic just upholds the hierarchal system. Just because something is ancient doesn’t mean it’s the only truth.

I’ve felt disconnected from yoga for a long while and have been slowly finding my way back ~ I hope this helps explain why.

I am forever grateful to my teachers @tiffanycruikshank @uma.both.yoga @amycarmodymovement and from afar @satuyoga and my original teacher Maya. And to my biggest teachers my students and friends .

Im far beyond perfect, always learning, tripping up, reflecting, often repeating the same mistakes and then getting myself back up and trying again.

Here’s to hope. Decolonisation. Love. Reimagining a world that we need and want 💚💚💚 by @midmerryyoga

Community Care Funds… 🚨call to action
(swipe for how to give)
IMPORTANT: please use friends and family option to avoid any fees being taken off and no references to 🇵🇸 or 🇱🇧 in the memo please! 🙏🏼

Now is not the time to fall into despair when Palestinians need us most. Direct action and direct aid are the two most important things we can be doing right now. Risk and sacrifice.

We are currently supporting @melqadi and his family of 11. We've been standing with Mohamed and his family for over 2.5 years, seen his son Ahmed grow up in the displacement camp the family of 11 have lived in for this entire time since their homes in Rafah were destroyed. We've seen the arrival of their youngest son Aseer who has only ever known life in a tent. Our solidarity ensures Mohamed can provide the most basic needs for his loved ones so they can survive.

With winter on its way, as well as food, we water, land rent and medicine, our funds support Mohamed with preparing and repairing the tent to withstand the harsh winter weather conditions. The intense heat of summer has worn the tarps.

Words from Mohamed: "Before the war, I worked as a lawyer, a defender of the rights of the oppressed, and a champion of truth wherever it may be. I had a house and land. We have become more like the dead. We breathe, but we have lost life and its meanings."

Small acts of consistency from this steadfast community mean we can continue to pay reparations and ease some of their burdens.

This work isn't about raising temporary funds to ease guilt, it's the making and nurturing of connections. being in it for the long haul with dedication.

2 weeks until we leave our desert home.

Soaking in the last few weeks of sunrise and sunset desert walks with Bailey boo.

So many feelings. So many tears. So much joy for the utter privilege of a lifetime to have lived with this land for 15 years.

“Rivers are easily wounded.
But given a chance, they heal themselves with remarkable speed. Their life pours back” from Is A River Alive by @robgmacfarlane

We’re a little like rivers, given a chance- Love and support, with each other , we heal. And our life POURS back.

Yoga has always reminded me, nothing is permanent, this won’t last forever and I have what it takes to keep meeting whatever comes my way.

And if I feel I don’t, I have a whole community to remind me .

Whatever season you’re in, I hope you remember , life will pour back .

* also a note that we live in systems that for many, are permanent and oppressive and that these can be almost impossible to navigate . I wish that we all had access to free health care , education and gardens, fresh food and shelter.

Big love . free Palestine and go for a walk in nature .

My favourite two restorative type moves ~ I use these when I’m in periods of high stress, after too long at the computer, driving and also when I’m recovering from cold/flu and might have restrictions taking a deep breath.

~ grab a soft rolled blanket or a soft Pilates ball~ and cushion for your head.
~ optional cute kelpie.

🌱 recline over your rolled blanket or ball, in middle of your back, support your head. 1 -2mins
🌱 roll over to belly , place roll or ball in belly region. 1-2 mins.

I love to put on my fav restful playlist.

Sometimes I add pranayama- humming, or extending exhale . But not always. Sometimes it’s too much if I’m anxious or stressed.

I find these two help soften tension through my spine, neck, shoulders, chest and belly.

Staying away from pain, recent injuries or surgeries and being mindful of scar tissue. Obvs belly one is not suitable if you’re pregnant.

I hope they help xxxx by @midmerryyoga
