Did you know that @abcradionational is doing a Hottest 100 style book countdown this year called Top 100 Australian Books? I only found out about it last night while recovering from surgery and filled it out in a midnight haze after a medical check before the deadline, which has now unfortunately passed.

However, I wanted to share my votes (most of which I had to put in manually) and let you know my favourite Aussie authors!

Here's my list (in no particular order):
✨️ Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (@lianemoriarty_official)
✨️ Death in the Mountains by Lisa Clifford (lisacliffordwriter)
✨️ If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang (@annliangwrites)
✨️ Hazelthorn by CG Drews (@paperfury)
✨️ Gemini Falls by Sean Wilson (@seanrichardwilson)
✨️ Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson (@stevensonexperience)
✨️ You Need to Know by Nicola Moriarty (@nicolamoriarty_author)
✨️ Burial Rites by Hannah Kent (@hannahkentwrites)
✨️ The Beautiful Mother by Katherine Scholes (@katherine.scholes)
✨️ Slashed Beauties by A. Rushby (@allisonrushbyauthor)

Have you read any of these amazing Australian authors? Got a fave I might have missed? Let me know!

Happy Pub Day to the one and only De Elizabeth (@wordsbyde)! Her second book, She Haunts Me Still, is out TODAY! I loved this book so much and could hear this playlist forming itself in my head as I read.

My full review will be out shortly, but until then, check out the full playlist (also not really finished, are playlists ever really "finished"?) through the 🔗 on my page - also featuring some other bookish playlists I've made.

She Haunts Me Still's blurb will be in the comments below, but in short, it involves the New England Vampire Panic, a stage adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, a bisexual main character involved in a love triangle, and a curse that links the three main characters.

Everyone please congratulate De in the comments and tell her how much you can't wait to read her book! Thank you! (But seriously, read this book)

Lifeline's Bookfest finished up last month, and here's my little haul! I love going to the Bookfest every single time it's around, not just because my father-in-law usually takes me (my husband says we're bad influences on each other lmao), but because I love being able to help Lifeline support mental health lifelines while also discovering books I might not have ever found otherwise - something that definitely happened this time around!

Some of the books I found I'd never heard of before, but I'm very excited to read them. Here are the books I found (and a bit about them):
☆ Future Girl by Asphyxia (Australian author, disability rep, multi/mixed media book, dystopian)
☆ The Cruel Stars by John Birmingham (Australian author, sci-fi, first in a series)
☆ From the Earth to the Moon & Around the Moon by Jules Verne (classics, sci-fi)
☆ For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemmingway (classics, historical)
☆ One Way by S.J. Morden (mystery, sci-fi, first in a series)
☆ The Library of the Dead by T. L. Huchu (dark, fantasy, first in a series)
☆ York: The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby (fantasy, mystery, first in a series)
☆ Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick (historical, multi/mixed media)

Have you read any of these before? Bonus points if you can guess the two books I got for my dad!

"Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book." - E.B. White

What are your go-to books when life is rough? I tend to stick to fiction (for the ✨escapism✨) and I think one of the best books for me that helped me when I was feeling pretty down was The Forest of Steel and Wool by Natsu Miyashita. It's easily become one of my favourite books of all time.

My May & June Wrap-Up has arrived! I actually finished making this on July 1st but did I post it then?? Noooooo of course not! 🙃

That being said, I had a lot of ARCs to get through and ended up reading 10 ARCs in two months - which is a lot, even for me! Of course, I am now behind on full reviews, BUT I am looking forward to writing the reviews over the coming weeks (at least that's what I'm telling myself lmao)

Drop your review tips and tricks for me below - I always get stuck on what to write, especially when I love the book and don't have a lot of things to critique. Sometimes my reviews just come out as "OMG I LOVE" or "An easy 5☆ read!" and while those are fun, I want to write more detailed reviews, especially for ARCs.

Pls give me your tips!

Here's some proof I do actually leave my house, on occasion.

Went on a sneaky weekend getaway the other week with my dad and my husband to the beach! I think beach trips in the winter are underrated. You can rug up, watch the waves, eat fish & chips, it's so nice!

I'm not actually reading The Stand at the moment, that's my dad's read (he's the one that got me into Stephen King in the first place - I'm pretty sure he has a copy of every Stephen King book now!) I only brought my Kindle, and that didn't photograph as prettily as a physical book in the beautiful sunset!

What are your fave beach reads (winter or summer, I don't mind)?
