Perfect way to round off an engaging few days work with some climb time with brother Chris. We hiked up to Grey Crag above Buttermere to tick off a few classics, linking up Fortiter and the excellent Dexter Wall, above. Both lines are on excellent rock and keep the interest throughout. Well worth the steep 90 minute approach. Thanks Chris....always a pleasure.Pic 1 of unknown climbers on Fortiter.Other climbing pics of Dexter Wall....#lakedistrictclimbing #tradclimbing #tradisrad #climbing_is_my_passion #iloveukclimbing by @mids_mountain_man

'Oh what a feeling' 🎶 .... To be on top of Cymru, with views and hardly another soul about. ❤️ 🌄 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.It was a top effort from this bunch of lovely coconuts, for a charity/birthday hike up Yr Wyddfa for a glorious sunset. They were raising funds for the @thewaltoncentre , who provided care, treatment and support at the most difficult of times. It was an honour to be a small part of your story on behalf of @battery.powered.adventures, an excellent independent adventure company in Eryri....#eryri_cymru #yrwydffasummit #mountains #mountainleader by @mids_mountain_man

Out in all conditions, putting in the hours when no one’s watching… this is where great leaders are made. Maximum respect. A huge congratulations to three of our brilliant local Leaders who’ve recently achieved new leadership qualifications through grit, perseverance, dedication, skill and a serious amount of time out in the elements. Abi SeniorQualified Winter Mountain Leader“The week was typically Scottish with no views and high winds. The whole assessment was an absolute blast in some weird type two fun, suffer-fest kind of way.” Alex BatteryQualified Winter Mountain Leader“The Winter Mountain Leader qualification was my hardest earned. With Covid and a couple of poor seasons preventing regular practice, it was hard to keep the motivation going. However, it has become one of the ones I am most proud of. The skills and trust in myself I have gained means I truly feel it has benefited me personally as well as professionally. Can’t wait to get the opportunity to use it going forward.” Nick ManassehQualified Rock Climbing Instructor“I massively enjoyed the process of consolidating the skills ahead of the Rock Climbing Instructor assessment and realised how much more there is to the award than just knowing how to climb, a sport I’ve loved for the last 15 years. I also learned a lot from all the instructors I was lucky enough to shadow. I met so many kind and generous people along the way, it inspires me to pay that forward at the first opportunity. None of the Mountain Training awards are possible without this process and generosity, so I will be forever grateful.” These qualifications are hugely commendable and come from years of experience, commitment and time spent learning in challenging conditions. It’s exactly this depth of knowledge and care that sits behind every day out in the mountains. Please join us in congratulating Abi, Alex and Nick on their outstanding achievements. Thrilled to have them as part of our Leadership team over the years and excited for the continued journeys ahead.📸 @abisenior214 📸 @battery.powered.adventures 📸 @mids_mountain_man #peoplemakethedifference #mountaintrainingassociation #leadershipwithheart by @mids_mountain_man

I am very happy to share that I am officially qualified as a Rock Climbing Instructor😊🎉I spent the weekend being put through my paces by Mark from @mckinlaymountaineering in the company of two other candidates, Ben and Gareth, who it was a pleasure to share the journey with. And what journey it's been. Being a RCI is not just about knowing how to climb....it's so much more than that, skills I worked hard to consolidate. So yeah, I'm affording myself a little pat on the back before the next step.I'm absolutely loving this journey of becoming a professional outdoors instructor and all the amazing folks I'm meeting along the way. Thank you especially to @rachel_marsden for believing in me, encouraging me and supporting me every step of the way. You are the main rock in my life (sorry gritstone!)....#rockclimbinginstructor #rockclimbinginstructorassessment #rockclimbinguk #peakdistrictnationalpark #tradisrad by @mids_mountain_man

After a few aborted Winter climbing trips, a painful elbow and putting my back out, a weeks climbing in the Sicilian sun was the perfect tonic. This was my second visit to the area and it didn't disappoint. There is so much rock to climb (think Stanage on steroids next to the sea) and some of it accessible on foot from our front door. San Vito - you spoilt us. Great company too....thanks gang...you made it what it was. Happy to be home now though with @rachel_marsden and Daisy the cat....#rockclimbingsicily #climbnowworklater #rockclimbingphotography #rockclimbingislife #climbingfriends by @mids_mountain_man

A busy day around Blea Tarn but we found some solitude, some great ice and some not so great ice up Birketts Gully (II/III) before the big thaw this week. Cheers for the craic @cloudfreeadventures ... always a pleasure....#lakedistrictwinterclimbing #iceclimbingimages #climbnowworklater #cumbria #iloveukclimbing by @mids_mountain_man

WOW! First time at the UK's largest live music venue and it didn't disappoint. Jamiroquai brought the party with their futuristic funk and a bag of hits while Jay Kay brought the moves and THAT voice.Meanwhile, the arena itself had my full attention. What a place! I don't usually like arena gigs...too big, not intimate enough etc but this place is different. Great to have a world class venue like this up the road (your move, London). Can't wait to go back for Biffy and Prodigy next year with my genius partner-in-time @rachel_marsden ..#noneedforhastags by @mids_mountain_man

Another non-mountain related post but this gig was too good not to add to the grid. @gogolbordello and their support bands, Puzzled Panther and Split Dogs, absolutely smashed it out the park last night at @alberthallmcr. ...#startwearingpurple by @mids_mountain_man

🥳 Appreciation post for the academic powerhouse that is my wonder-wife @rachel_marsden for completing her third Master's degree (you read that right).I have stood by in awe as she has juggled multiple roles and faced repeated health-hurdles along the way. You are an inspiration, my queen 👑. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 Pic 2 for the world's smallest Jug at our celebratory brekkie. More of a crimp if you ask me 😉. by @mids_mountain_man

On Sunday we bailed from a soggy Craig Cywarch down to the coast for a fun few hours pottering around Barmouth Slabs - a modest collection of low grade routes in a wonderful setting above the Mawdach Estuary....#rockclimbinguk #iloveukclimbing #cymru #welshclimbing #climbing_is_my_passion by @mids_mountain_man
