Øyvind Hjelmen — Being Here

Opening Sep.3
18:00 - 20:00

Øyvind Hjelmen's return to the gallery feels particularly fitting.

Three and a half years have passed since that first exhibition. The gallery has changed, evolved and accumulated a history of its own. To encounter Hjelmen’s photographs here again creates a quiet dialogue between two moments in time — between where we began and where we are now.

Being Here accompanies Hjelmen’s monograph of the same name, published by Skeleton Key Press, featuring a poem by Nobel Prize laureate Jon Fosse.
Being Here, Hjelmen’s fourth monograph, a clothbound limited edition of 360 signed and numbered copies, explores themes of home, travel, and memory through small yet resonant images. Being Here is a unique book that may be the most true-to-form expression of Hjelmen’s photographic journey.

We look forward to welcoming Øyvind back to the gallery — and to welcoming you!

ØYVIND HJELMEN — BEING HERE

Sep. 3 - Oct. 18 2026

Opening 3. September 2026
18:00–20:00

Three and a half years ago, we opened the doors to our gallery for the first time.

The first artist we invited to exhibit was Øyvind Hjelmen.

This September, he returns.

In Being Here, Hjelmen presents an intimate photographic exploration of presence, memory and the human desire to leave a trace — to say, however quietly and momentarily: I was here.

Through small-scale, hand-printed black-and-white photographs, fragments of bodies, landscapes, interiors and objects emerge like uncertain recollections. Moments suspended between presence and absence; between what remains and what is already disappearing.

We are thrilled to welcome you back to the gallery after a long summer!
