Sometimes I wonder who’s teaching who….

It’s been 2 years back on the circuit. A 5 year break in ladder climbing is not unheard of but rare. More often than not the story is brief after a gap like that. At this point I can see myself shooting into the sunset.

The Narcissus factor in shooting sports is pretty high. Comparable to bodybuilding from what I gather.

Proper ego management of that is key to endurance in the sport imo. This has always on my radar. But with sharing the sport with the boys it’s a topic I have had to restudy, chaperon, and role-model…. It has drastically changed my point of view on the game.

A personal goal of mine upon return was to find a different focal point other than “winning”. Not in a “I’m just here to have fun” excuse to not perform way. But a direction that makes winning a by-product. Something I could look back on as a good story. Not just room fully of trophy’s.

I have been pointing toward the “extreme sports” mentality for this as a framework. Like early 2000’s era. Not the later soccer mom at the skatepark age. This has made me go back to a “do a kickflip” mentality. Sharing that with the boys has been the move. It’s been a Robin Williams Peter Pan vibe….

Last match before the sheepdog CCP championships in December is in the books.

Two -1’s away from the “perfect match” for the second time this year. The pursuit continues.

Two weekends in a row of classes, then I’m disappearing into the mountains for a month and a half. ⏳ by @midwestcompetitionworks
