When the ancient stones began to whisper secrets lost to time, three mysterious figures found themselves drawn together by an unseen force … A vampire, a wandering ghost, and a bride who never reached the end of her vows. Bound by a secret older than death itself, they awaited the hour when the veil between worlds would finally fall… 🥀🦇👻”

My zombie bride

“Beneath the silver moon, a zombie bride wanders among forgotten graves, her tattered veil dancing in the cold mist. Searching for the love that death could not steal, she drifts between the tombstones, forever bound to a wedding that never reached its end.”

Just one more, before all the fun has to be put away until next Halloween!
As for her, my excuse is that this doll has a slightly bluish tinge to her face. So she needs a repaint; the zombie bride from the ‘Haunted Beauty by Barbie’ range seemed perfect for her.
Meanwhile, her pink dress, with lots of tulle and a cut-in frayed hem, is already finished, as is the veil with homemade little roses. Now that she’s been repainted, all that’s left is to style her hair and then she’ll be finished in time!

‘Where the mist veils the world, she wanders… a pale apparition without a shadow, with eyes that hold secrets from a time no one can remember. No one knows where she comes from, nor where she is going. But whoever hears her whisper once will carry her mystery with them forever…’

My haunted barbie: Ghost.

She’s finished just in time; this spooky look really calls for a special photo shoot. So, once her necklaces are in place, she’s positioned against a spooky backdrop. With a few simple tricks, you can create something spooky in no time at all – just a few sheer pieces of tulle and fabric, and some bare branches. Her make-up has been adjusted, and I think the sunken eyes have turned out all right!

Haunted beauty ghost

Sometimes you come across a damaged doll – too lovely to throw away – but she’s missing a bit of her nose!
She’s perfect for my next ‘haunted beauty’! After all, a ghost doesn’t have to be in perfect condition. The focus is on the clothes anyway!
I’ve gathered all the necessary fabrics; I’m making three pieces and will then put them together!
- a dress with very wide sleeves, but see-through.
- a sleeveless overdress with a crossover at the front and a
skirt made of strips.
- a lace waistband with extra embellishment.
Of course, her hair and a suitable repaint will provide the finishing touches! by @mieke_de_keyzer

My ooak beauty vampire

She wanted:
A love that felt dangerous,
not because it could hurt her
but because it could change her!
She said:
Let's become vampires
so we can love each other
for Eternity!

My haunted beauty vampire
Her cloak is finished; it’s lined with black fabric and the wide puff sleeves feature the same braid as her dress. Seeing it all together like this, it’s starting to look the right way.
Take a look at her ring too!
The doll I chose needed extra hair after her hair was pinned up. As I want ringlets, more length is needed, so she’s been partially re-rooted.
The repaint is also finished and makes a huge difference.
Tomorrow I’ll show her off in full in a special photoshoot!

My own vampire haunted barbie

Every year around Halloween, I look at the ‘haunted beauty Barbie dolls’, but they’re quite pricey! That’s why I want to try making one myself.
Of course, I can’t recreate those unique dolls perfectly, but I do want to make my own version of them!
The haunted vampire is my first project because I already have the necessary fabrics.
Her slip is now finished and the cloak is ready to be sewn.
The doll’s make-up is being removed and she’s being repainted. Her hair is a bit on the short side, but she’ll get the right hairstyle with a partial re-root.
I’m curious to hear what you think of it so far! by @mieke_de_keyzer

The wedding dress of Mary I Tudor

In 2004, a reconstruction of Mary I’s wedding dress for her marriage to Philip of Spain was created, based on descriptions, to mark the 450th anniversary of the wedding.
According to sources, she wore a majestic, rich purple satin dress with gold brocade in the French style and with very wide sleeves; she also wore a partlet made of the same fabrics to cover her neck.
The petticoat and the undersleeves were made of white satin and richly decorated with silver and gold.
Here is my own version of this. by @mieke_de_keyzer

Edward VI

Here is the child king, finished just in time!
You can see the embellished hanging sleeves more clearly.
Shown full-length, this also shows off the re-created leather shoes with slashes to their best advantage.
His hat, a so-called flat cap, with lots of decoration and a plume, became fashionable under the young king!
An official chain of office with striking jewels is also a feature of Tudor portraits!
Of course, his dagger couldn’t be missing. In many of his portraits, he carries this gold-embellished weapon. Mine isn’t too sharp – he’s too young to be running about with weapons!
In his poses, he mainly imitates his father, standing with his legs apart and looking straight at everyone! by @mieke_de_keyzer

Edward VI

As promised, here’s a double portrait so you can see clearly where I found my inspiration: Edward liked to strike a mature pose, legs apart, gazing straight ahead and with his hand on a dagger. Dressed in heavy Tudor attire, just like his father! by @mieke_de_keyzer
