Recently my work had grown to explore and understand a life left behind. I often think of my parents’ younger years, grandparents and my childhood home in Sri Lanka. I am captivated by the idea of connecting to the ground and soil of one’s homeland and home. A place I left behind when I was so little. With my recent paintings, I am exploring how I would have felt during the moments as am painting about a time when the world and my surroundings were all open to me, unlike how I see the world now, which is often difficult and challenging at times. I paint mainly from photographs captured by my family members but I do so as a way of recalling my life at home rather than allowing their faces to fade into memory. i aim to develop a body of work that creates a world in where i can take refuge and recall moments of my life in Srilanka as a way of moving forwerd and understanding my self. by @miikklovin

I WAS ONCE A HOUSE 🏠

I was once a house- is a family archiving project and a collection of photographs taken by various family members over the years. The images depict the interactions of friends, family, and loved ones alongside my younger self existing within my childhood
home.

These photographs belong to the past, and within them all there is a building that held each moment, that was once alive and then became empty. These images depict how time has passed through this house, and each person who went there
