New Years has always been my favorite holiday, but it’s a weird feeling to enter a new year knowing that not everyone you love is entering it with you. It’s complicated to look towards brighter days, knowing that some people won’t be there to see them. The last time I saw my dad was this past July, right before his 58th birthday, the conversation was left with “I love you, I’ll see you at Christmas” but he wasn’t there. There are a lot of things I wish I could have been different, and a lot of things I wished he would be there to see, but not everything can work out the way we wish it. I’ve known that life is short, I didn’t need to learn it, but life is also long, and filled with opportunities to remember the good, and to spend days doing the things that bring you joy with the people you love. That should be the lesson I think. Cheers to 2025, dad. I hope they have jam bands and black and white frappes wherever you are, but I wish you were here 🕊️ ❤️ by @mik_red
