And that's a wrap on Puppet Lab 2026 for me and Ms. Weaver! 🧵🧶🪡🧣🧷🧺
Since January, I've been working with some of the most talented, fun, inventive, kind, and just plain ol' cool people in Puppet Lab. It was an honor to be in collaboration with everyone there.
This show is a love letter to the history, community, love, and humanity all found in the art of crafting and I am so happy with how it turned out. Ms. Weaver is the old woman I hope to be someday and I'm glad she's one of the people I got to tell this story with 💛
I hope I get to share the stage with Ms. Weaver and all my new puppet friends soon, but until then, my cats are keeping her company.

You’re invited to join us as a community August 20-23 for the 2026 Chicago Puppet Lab Works-in-Progress Showcase! Now in its fifth year, the Chicago Puppet Lab is the Festival’s incubator and residency program that supports artists in creating new works of puppet theater.

Mikayla Wilson is a theater and puppetry artist from Asheville, North Carolina. Mikayla is a crafter, primarily a knitter and sewist, and would love to talk to you about the project(s) she’s currently working on. "Because I'm little!"
Ash's cross stitch is complete!

Fantastic Mr. Fox in the past year really became one of my favorite films and I had to make something to represent my favorite character (also, might be my Halloween costume...).

I deeply love how this came out and all the little embellishments (thank you friends for giving me the push to do them).
I really enjoy the colors, the lettering, and how much fun it was to make.

I can't wait to put it up on my wall, when I find the perfect space. I'm thinking of making one of these for each of the fox family but we'll have to see!

This past New Years Eve, I made a bingo card of things I wanted to do instead of making resolutions like "run a mile" or "start reading" because I wanted to feel like I had options and things I was working towards.
Well, I haven't done one. And it's August... BUT, one of the bingo squares was making homemade pies with in season fruit for strawberries, blueberries, cherries, and pumpkin. I did make a pie during peak strawberry season. And I just got in the blueberries under the wire. And it's bars instead of pie but I really wanted cookies so I'm counting it. So, cherries and pumpkins left!
I'm hoping to get some other resolutions done before the end of the year but if this is the only one I do, I'm proud of me.

The Graue Mill

It was so nice getting to step back in time and see my first water mill! This museum is four floors with each level focusing on a different piece of the history of the mills and family who owned it. I can't wait for my next visit here soon.
