This week I wanted to share a bit about myself that maybe some people don’t know. I grew up in NY and moved to CA in 2017. I started in the medical field in NY as an EVS employee of a hospital cleaning floors and linens. I worked my way up to achieve my goal of being PA that I absolutely love doing even to this day. I am a genuine believer that hard work always gets rewarded in the end.

Kiba has always been attached to me as an alias for years whether it was my gamer tag, or now my DJ name. It’s a representation of me that goes far deeper than the connection I built through cultural interest and living in Japan and continues to be a part of me whether it’s expression through art, my personality or what I represent as a whole.

DJing started as an artistic outlet for me and I started by streaming during covid as a way to bring my friends together to hang out on livestreams during a time of uncertainty. During that time I realized this was something I wanted to pursue further and I spent hours in my room practicing DJing various types of genres in order to be the essence of what I feel a DJ is, one for the people. I worked extremely hard to get my first gig and get more exposure in the public scene. The more I DJ, the more I realize this is more than an artistic outlet, it’s a passion and a calling that I shouldn’t ignore, because I would hate to look back on my life and think “what if”. I am excited to see where DJing and producing can take me.

I love living in CA right now, and I am grateful for everyone who is a part of my journey and supports my endeavors.

4 years ago I could spin house and techno in a bedroom and at house parties.

3 years ago I committed a year learning all styles of music and learning how to be a professional while internalizing what I feel the essence of a DJ is : a party provider and one for the people.

2 years ago I played my first public gig and then placed myself in as many different environments as possible to test these skills. With that I learned an invaluable skill of crowd reading and to always keep the crowd in mind.

Last year I got to play in so many fun environments in LA, LB, OC, Sacramento, Japan and Vietnam and was fortunate to get into a proper training program @cosmicacademy in order to learn the approach to being a professional producer and artist.

THIS YEAR I want to take those skills and experiences and not only further improve them, but develop them further into a sound and an energy that I can call my own.

I’m eternally grateful for the support from the Day 1s, Day2s and so forth for my artistic outlet that I want to share with as many people as possible. Everyone has their own pathway they follow and that’s what shapes their sound and identity. Shedding love to others on their path can only strengthen your own.

This festival will always have a place for me. It reminds me of the impact music can have on your every day existence. Music can keep you grounded, take you to the highest places, guide you through the darkest times, connect you with the greatest people, and always remind you to stay present and true to yourself. EF also serves as a time for me to have a mental health check in with myself and spend some time to self reflect and think of what I can do better with myself and how I can positively affect other people around me. I love all the jobs I do and I know I’m my hardest critic. Every day there always seems to be a task, a goal, a chore, a checklist to complete and this creates a sense of I’m not doing enough. However, every challenge that seems impossible to get through always makes me feel stronger and grateful that I went through it after it’s complete. taken in Electric Forest by @mike__kiba
