**NEXT WEATHER ALERT** 🚨 Severe weather in late autumn? Atmospheric plot twist. 🌀

We’ve issued a Next Weather Alert from **2 PM to 9 PM** today for Eastern MN & Western WI.

Today’s threat is *conditional*—the wind fields are primed for supercells, hail, damaging winds, and a couple of strong tornadoes. The catch? Storms need enough fuel to get going. However, all that sun breaking through this morning makes that "more fuel" scenario much more likely.

Will everyone see a severe storm today? No. But given the potential for HIGH-END severe weather at a time of year you definitely aren't expecting it, we’d much rather you be over-prepared than caught by surprise.

🗓️ **The Multi-Day Outlook:**
☀️ **Thursday:** Upper 50s & sunny—pure bliss.
☁️ **Friday:** Cloudier, but remaining mild.
🌦️ **Saturday:** Highs in the low 60s. Clouds and a slight drizzle chance, but most of the day looks dry.

North Dakota doing October things ❄️vs. Minnesota holding the line 🍁

While our NEXT Weather Watchers in lake country haven’t reported a single flake, ND picked up up to an inch of slush last night in Luverne, with Ashley, Gackle, and Wishek still sporting dusting on the grass 🌨️

Don’t panic yet: temperatures are about to rocket right back up into the 50s, 60s, and even 70s over the next few days! ☀️🔥

We’re coasting on this mild streak through Halloween weekend and straight into early November 🎃... unless that sneaky "cut-off" low pressure system decides to mess with the plans.

Catch the full forecast live at Noon, 4 PM, or streaming anytime—I’ve got you covered whether you're planning bonfire night or figuring out how many layers go under the kiddo’s costume 🧥🔥

Minnesota & Wisconsin winters aren’t what they used to be—and the numbers back it up. 📉❄️

While El Niño gets most of the credit for warm winter forecasts, our background climate has been quietly shifting for decades[cite: 1]. In fact, the Upper Midwest is among the fastest-warming regions in the entire country during winter.

Here’s what that actually means for your winter:
🌡️ Rollercoaster temperatures (bracing cold snaps followed by rapid thaws)
❄️ Less consistent snow cover staying on the ground
🧊 Extremely unstable, thin lake ice (heads up if you're planning to head out ice fishing!)

Want the full 4-minute breakdown on how past El Niño winters played out and what NOAA is forecasting for this year? Watch the full video on our feed! 📺

Honored to be invited back year after year to support the @dap_mn community! 💜 Last night, @shaylareaves and I co-emceed the Canopy of Light fundraiser for the Domestic Abuse Project (DAP).

When families struggle financially, therapy is often the first expense to get cut—right when stress and conflict hit a boiling point. DAP ensures families in crisis still have a lifeline. 🕯️✨

Huge love to the insanely talented @kashimanamusic for threading her magic through the evening, and to my brilliant colleague and friend Shayla Reaves for being the best co-emcee a person could ask for! 🎙️💫

‼️ HOW TO SUPPORT (NOW THRU OCT 31):
Help us raise $150,000 to sustain DAP’s vital services!
✨ Check out DAP online to bid on silent auction items thru Oct 31

From sweat to sweaters in under four days. Welcome to October in Minnesota and Wisconsin! 🫠🍁

We just lived through a historic, record-shattering weekend across MN & WI. The Twin Cities hit 90° on Sunday—making it the latest 90-degree day in over 150 years of record-keeping. Out of only SIX 90° October days EVER recorded in MSP history, 4 of them have happened in just the last 3 years. 🤯

**What’s up NEXT: Extreme atmospheric mood swings.** 📉

🌡️ **Through Thursday:** A widespread cooldown, to near average for this time of year

📉 **Friday night:** A widespread freeze & first frost of the season incoming. Cover those sensitive plants!

🔥 **The twist:** It’s a one-night wonder. No long-term cold snap in sight, and October looks to stay warmer than average overall.

Ready for a chill? 🥶

Based on standard 30-year climate normals, we’re due for some big changes over the next 2 months… but in a Super El Niño year, "normal" is all relative. 🤷‍♂️❄️

Here’s the breakdown on how snow & cold usually develop in the Twin Cities vs. what this pattern could actually bring:

🍂 **OCTOBER**

• *Normal:* First dustings usually show up around late October.

• *El Niño:* Mild air tends to keep things feeling more like extended fall, keeping most precip liquid. 🌧️

🍁 **NOVEMBER**

• *Normal:* Measurable snow (1”+) typically lands by mid-month.

• *El Niño:* Cold air outbreaks are often delayed, meaning late-season warmth can push the heavy winter onset back.

⚠️ **THE REALITY CHECK**

Fewer total inches on average doesn't mean zero snow. When Pacific moisture tracks cross path with polar air, single-storm totals can still be a mess.

💬 *Drop your hot take in the comments:* Are you team "Bring on 40 inches of snow" or team "I'll take an El Niño thaw every single week"? 👇

150+ years of weather records, and today just tied the top spot for the latest 90-degree day EVER recorded in the Twin Cities. 🌡️💥

It’s not just a metro thing, either—non-urbanized areas across the region are sizzling in the 90s today.

Here’s the reality:
👉 Climate change
👉 A developing Super El Niño
👉 October sweater weather on hold 🍂🚫

Highs in the 80s to near 90° and an Air Quality Alert... Is this October or August?! 🤯🍂

We have a WEIRD October weekend ahead for Minnesota and Wisconsin. Here’s the breakdown:

🔥 Record Heat: Guaranteed record-warm low Saturday night in the Twin Cities, with daily record high temperatures up for grabs across the region both days.
🌬️ Saturday: Gusty winds will ruin any last-minute beach or boat plans.
☁️ Sunday: Clouds and cooler air creep into cabin country.
🌧️ Rain Forecast: Barely a drop on Monday, but hopefully a real rain chance by Thursday.

Low Earth orbit was absolute chaos over Minnesota this morning. 🌙✨

12 seconds. One super close-up crescent moon. And FIVE mysterious points of light racing across the frame.

With the Draconid meteor shower peaking last night, constant satellite traffic, and airplanes in the mix, we’re taking bets on what made the shot: meteors, satellites, an airplane, or a full-blown sky gridlock? ☕👀

Count ‘em up—did you catch all 5 points of light on your first watch, or did it take a few replays? 👇
