POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve been speaking professionally for more than 25 years now.
A lot has changed over the years. The world has changed.

Work has changed. Leadership has changed. And I’ve changed too.

But the core of what I care about is still the same: helping people connect more authentically, communicate more honestly, and work together in a way that actually feels human.

We recently updated my speaker packet and, more than anything, I wanted it to reflect the conversations leaders and teams are really having right now.

Trust. Burnout. Disconnection. Belonging. Resilience. The tension between performance and wellbeing.

That’s the work.

Anyway, I’m excited to share it here. Grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey over the years.

It’s official… my new website is live!

Take a look here: https://mike-robbins.com/

I’m excited, grateful, and proud to share it with you…and also feeling a bit vulnerable.

This new site feels like a clearer reflection of me, my work, and what matters most right now.

Over the years, creating websites, marketing materials, photos, videos, and messaging around myself and my work has often been challenging. I’ve always wanted to find the balance between sharing value and telling my story without feeling overly promotional or needy.

This time felt different.

I had the opportunity to work with some incredible people and I received a lot of support along the way.

This whole process felt more aligned, collaborative, and joyful. And I’m proud of what we created.

More importantly, I’m grateful for the clients, colleagues, and friends, and community who have supported me and my work over the years.

With everything happening in the world right now, economically, socially, technologically, and beyond, prioritizing human connection, leading with authenticity and appreciation, and remembering that we truly are all in this together feels as important as ever.

I’d love for you to check out this new site, let me know what you think, and share it with others if it resonates.

We spend so much time trying to protect ourselves. Putting on the armor, staying above the waterline, doing everything we can to avoid getting hurt.

But here’s the truth: life still happens.

The hard stuff still shows up. No amount of pretending or posturing can stop that.
What can make a difference is the willingness to be real.

To lower the waterline on our iceberg. To lead with courage instead of fear. To be seen, not as perfect, but as human.

That’s the power of vulnerability. It’s not weakness, it’s liberation.

And when we show up that way, we create space for others to do the same.

One of the weirdest things about having adult-ish kids (Samantha is 20 and Rosie is 18) is realizing they remember parts of their childhood completely differently than I do.

Every once in a while, one of our daughters will bring up a family trip, a conversation, or something that happened years ago. I’ll say, “Wait, that’s not what happened.”
Of course, in my mind, I have the correct version. I was the adult. I was there. I remember.

Except...so were they.

It’s been a funny and sometimes humbling reminder that two people can experience the exact same moment and walk away with completely different memories of it. Neither person necessarily has to be wrong.

I think about this beyond parenting, too. How often do we get into disagreements at work, at home, or with friends because we’re convinced our experience of something is THE experience?

The older I get, the more interested I am in asking, “What was that like for you?” before assuming I already know.

Although, for the record, there are still a few family stories I’m pretty sure I remember correctly. by @mikedrobbins

As AI continues to expand its capabilities and many of us find ourselves utilizing it in new ways, both personally and professionally, it’s easy to become quite reliant on it, for better or worse. In doing this, we can sometimes inadvertently stop trusting ourselves and others.

On this week’s episode of my podcast, I talk about some of the reasons it’s both essential and problematic for us to use AI as much as we do these days.

I also share ways we can continue to trust our own instincts, creativity, and critical thinking, and that of others, while still tapping into the power of AI and keeping it in a healthy perspective as we navigate the ongoing disruption it’s causing.

I think you will find this discussion timely and useful.

If you had told me six years ago everything we were about to experience, I’m not sure I would have believed you.

And I definitely wouldn’t have believed we could navigate all of it. Yet here we are.

That doesn’t mean the last six years have been easy, or that the uncertainty and disruption are behind us. In many ways, we’re still figuring out what all of this means for our work, our teams, our families, and ourselves.

But I think we sometimes forget to give ourselves credit for what we’ve already made it through.

Resilience isn’t pretending everything is fine. It’s being able to look at what we’ve experienced, acknowledge that it’s been hard, and realize:

We’re still here. Now, what are we going to do from here?

That’s where growth can begin. by @mikedrobbins

I’ve been doing this work for more than 25 years, and I still occasionally walk off stage wondering, “Was that actually any good?”

I can have a room full of people laughing, nodding, taking notes, and coming up to talk with me afterward, and somehow my brain will still find the one point that didn’t quite land or the question I wish I’d answered differently.

I used to think experience would eventually make that go away. That at some point I’d feel completely confident and stop second-guessing myself.

That hasn’t happened.

What has changed is that I don’t give those doubts quite as much authority as I used to.

Maybe confidence isn’t getting to a place where we never question ourselves.

Maybe it’s trusting that we can do meaningful work, learn from what didn’t go perfectly, and keep showing up even when we’re not completely sure of ourselves.

I’m still working on this one. How about you? by @mikedrobbins

Your role is what you do. Your job is to help the team win.

I love that distinction from my recent conversation with Mike Robbins on the BetterCulture Podcast.

Think about how often we hear “they need to do this” or “that’s their responsibility” in the workplace. But who is they? Aren’t we all working toward the same goal?

The best teams understand something important: individual contributions matter, but collective success is what moves the organization forward.

That doesn’t mean setting aside your strengths or ambitions. It means recognizing that your success and the team’s success are connected. And building that kind of culture takes intentional effort. It requires trust, authenticity, and a willingness to put the team’s goals ahead of individual egos.

In our discussion , Mike and I explore what separates average teams from truly great ones, why the “squishy stuff” matters more than we sometimes realize, and how leaders can create environments where people genuinely want to win together.

Life moves quickly, and sometimes we don't fully appreciate the moments we're experiencing until they're behind us.

On this week's episode of my podcast, I talk about why it can be so challenging to appreciate the moment we're in, especially with all the stress, uncertainty, and distractions in our lives these days.

I also discuss why being present and appreciating what's happening right now is so important, and I share some simple ways we can do this more consciously, even when things aren't exactly how we'd like them to be.

It feels like everything is urgent these days.

The news, social media, work, technology, our phones. So much of what comes at us is presented as something that needs our attention and reaction right now.

But everything can’t be a five-alarm fire all the time.

I’ve been thinking about how important it is to keep some perspective, especially when the world feels particularly loud or uncertain.

That doesn’t mean ignoring what matters or pretending difficult things aren’t difficult. It means remembering that not everything deserves the same amount of our energy.

Sometimes the question I need to ask myself is simply: How big is this, really?

Perspective doesn’t necessarily change what’s happening. But it can change how we show up for it. by @mikedrobbins

I’m always a little skeptical when a team tells me, “We all get along great. There’s really no conflict here.”

Because getting along and trusting each other aren’t necessarily the same thing.

Healthy teams disagree. People question ideas, challenge decisions, ask why, and sometimes see things very differently.

The important part is whether they feel safe enough to say those things out loud and whether they can do it without the disagreement becoming destructive or personal.

Conflict itself isn’t usually the problem. It’s how we approach it and what we do with it that matters. Great teams talk to each other, not about each other.

Some of the strongest groups I’ve worked with aren’t conflict-free at all. They’ve just learned how to disagree and still trust each other on the other side of the conversation. by @mikedrobbins

People call me a lot of things. Speaker. Author. Coach. Podcaster. My friends just call me Mike.

But regardless of the title, the work I care most about has always been pretty simple: helping people connect more deeply with one another and helping teams create the kind of environment that makes it easier for them to actually be themselves.

When real trust and psychological safety exist, people are more willing to speak up, ask for help, disagree, admit mistakes, and say what they really think. And when they’re not, even the smartest group of people can have a hard time working well together.

After more than 25 years of doing this work, that’s still the conversation I love being invited into.

So yes, call me when your team needs more trust, connection, and honesty. I’d love to help. by @mikedrobbins
