Iran sent a spy boat to shadow the U.S. Navy. CENTCOM says it was conducting surveillance and targeting U.S. ships in the Gulf of Oman. The crew was taken off, then the boat was destroyed.

Should we have boarded it first? Former Navy SEAL Mike Ritland breaks down the intel payoff, and the risk most headlines skip. Swipe through.

HOW COLOMBIA DEALT WITH ITS MOST DANGEROUS CRIMINALS

The attorney general called it self-surrender.

You come in, plead to one felony of your choosing, and serve your sentence.

Everything else you ever did is wiped.

Walk out and you’re a free man. No longer wanted for anything.

The goal wasn’t justice. It was stopping the violence - the same platform that made César Gaviria president.

DIJIN: Colombia’s Escobar HUNTERS!

Before Steve Murphy ever got to Colombia, the DEA already had personality studies on Pablo Escobar and the men around him.

He’d never worked a case at that level.

But he knew exactly who Pablo was, because all the dope coming into South Florida was Medellín cartel dope.

What he didn’t know yet were the Colombians.

DIJIN. A specialised unit his partner Javier had already been working with for three years.

In Murphy’s words: these were some butt-kicking guys.

What Happens When XI Is Gone?

Chinese officials made an unusual demand at a recent summit with President Trump.

They asked the US to accommodate Xi Jinping’s need for rest.

He’s seventy-three.

And this isn’t the first time. At another global summit recently, he didn’t show up for part of it for the same reason.

So it sure seems like his health is deteriorating.

Which raises a much bigger question than his schedule.

What happens when Xi passes away, or passes the torch, or simply can’t lead anymore?

Who takes his place in China, and what does that mean for US relations?

How Russia WEAPONIZES migration

Russia is wielding a human tool against the West.

A scheme to push migrants over Latvia’s border.

And Mike has one question about it: where do you think they got that tactic from?

Because a border isn’t a political issue. It’s a national security one.

The strange part is how hyper-publicized it gets from a partisan standpoint.

Because the overwhelming majority of citizens in any nation want a secure border.

They want a real check process for anyone coming in.

They Wiretapped Escobar And Got NOTHING!

The best thing the DEA does is attack an organization’s command and control.

Because criminal or legal, every organization has to communicate.

And intercepting communications was the DEA’s bread and butter.

In Colombia, going up on somebody’s phone wasn’t restricted the way it is in the United States.

So here’s the part that doesn’t make sense.

The entire year Pablo Escobar sat in that prison, the DEA pulled zero intercepts out of it.

Not a few. None!

The EXECUTION That Ended Rome!

Rome’s best general was beating the barbarians again and again.

That was the problem.

Flavius Stilicho was the reason the Western Empire was still standing.

But the emperor was weak, and his court ran everything.

One courtier, Olympius, wanted to grab as much power for himself as he could.

And a general winning that often was in the way.

So he told the emperor that Stilicho was a threat.

In 408, the emperor had him executed.

Two years later, Rome was sacked.

Because the man who was the best at what he did was no longer there to protect them.

When incompetence reigns, competence is seen as dangerous.

HE RODE THE COCAINE TO MIAMI!

He pretended to be a deckhand.

The cover story was simple. Their boat had hidden compartments that could move up to 500 kilos back into South Florida.

As far as the traffickers knew, they were just transportation brokers.

What actually happened is a DEA twin engine flew down and they loaded every duffel bag onto the plane.

But chain of custody means somebody has to stay with the evidence.

And the plane was full.

So he climbed on top of the duffel bags and rode two hours back to Opa-Locka lying on the dope.

To fight for Rome, you had to own a piece of Rome.

That was the law.

By the late republic most men owned nothing, and the legions couldn’t fill themselves.

So Gaius Marius changed the law and let the landless poor enlist.

It worked. Every time there was an emergency, Rome made him consul, because Marius was going to save them.

But something else changed that nobody noticed.

Before, a man fought for Rome because he owned a piece of it.

Now his pay and his retirement came from his general.

So that’s where the loyalty went.

Decades later, a general used that loyalty to march an army on Rome itself.

The first man in history to do it.

The reform that saved the army is the one that ended the republic.
