Ballet became the perfect embodiment of what 1896 stands for: strength wrapped in grace, discipline expressed as art, and tradition carried into the future. There was also a beautifully, fortuitous discovery that cemented the concept for our ‘How the Light Dances’ campaign - In 1895, Swan Lake was reimagined into the timeless version we know today, just one year before 1896. The soundtrack to the campaign video takes this iconic composition and reimagines it through a contemporary lens. Familiar yet unexpected, classical yet modern, it mirrors everything 1896 seeks to do.

The Standard Bank CIB travel series celebrates different cities in Africa, for all the their unique qualities, cultures and opportunities.

We wanted real restraint when it came to the covers to make them feel sophisticated rather than souvenir-ish. Each vibrant city is simplified to its purest visual frequency: colour. Rather than illustrating landmarks or relying on expected African travel imagery, the design captures the emotional atmosphere of each place through layered horizontal bands, in a palette drawn from the architecture, street culture, flora, transport systems, fashion, light and energy unique to each city.

Each palette becomes a sensory portrait:
Johannesburg pulses with mineral golds, urban blacks, electric primaries and jacaranda purples.
Kampala radiates with saturated warmth, nightlife neons, earth tones and tropical intensity.
Nairobi balances natural greens with bold urban reds, deep shadows and flashes of modernity and technology.

The inside spreads continued the bold, rich colour and presented each city in a fresh and inspiring way.

@saltworks.studio_ is where curiosity becomes story. For their new identity, we wanted something unexpected and a little whimsical, something that could fit a studio that thrives on imagination, curiosity, and a touch of magic. The hand-drawn Fox captures that spirit. There is something charming about the idea of this clever, slightly mischievous creature behind the lens; part folklore, part storyteller. The fox captures that spirit. He’s alert, wily, inventive, and adaptable - a character who sees the world differently, always ready to chase a story. Never without his trusted hat and camera, echoing the owner and talent behind Saltworks Studio, @hannomatthysen_ by @mikeipp_creative
