Countless late nights, grueling travel, lost sleep, no days off… no matter the endeavor, creating momentum always costs a lot. Sustaining it can be just as costly but there is no success without sacrifice. Sacrifice separates those in the game from the ones in the seats. One of the best pieces of advice my friend (and bestselling author) Jeff Goins gave me on my first book, “This is pretty good…it’s a B. Everybody, your publisher, friends, audience, are gonna tell you it’s great, and they’re gonna want you to ship it. Do the extra 5% to turn this into an A-.”

Five years later, the book sells almost as well as it did when it first came out. I’m really grateful he pushed me: “Is this your best work?” I’m like, “No, I’m just tired.” What would Tim Grover, if he was my coach, tell me to do? He’d be like, “Are you a closer? Are you a cleaner? Clean this up! Get it done! Don’t complain!”

It’s not that many degrees of separation from the people who really excel. It’s just that extra 5%, the last two or three when working out that feel like torture… but if you do them, you get the most growth. by @mikekim

I have a rule with clients now: “Do not ever send me your Claude AI crap reports to read and sift through. If you do, I’ll just run it through my Claude, and our two Claude accounts can make out all night like teens at the prom, slobbering verbal diarrhea over each other’s AI mouths - all while I take your actual, real money.”
