Hey internet, I'd like to introduce you to my buddy Mushin! In 2024, life hit me with a MVC2 Hyper-combo of bullshit that left me creatively paralyzed for months. So to get the ball rolling again, I started a daily experiment trying to merge my art making with my zen practice. Mushin roughly translates to no-mindedness, which is a state that has remained out of my reach 😅 but through my practice I've come to see thoughts like ripples in a pond. I held myself to the rule that everytime I observed my brain making waves, I'd stop sculpting and walk away. Many sessions lasted less than a minute, but after months some began to last hours. Once he was fully blocked out I entered a phase of more intentional refinement where I disregarded my rule, got some references and I tightened things up. Needless to say it took a LONG time to get this fella across the finish line, but we made it! Sometimes you just gotta trust yourself yo 👊🏾#3dart #3D #sculpture #zbrush by @mikenmurdoc

Last year I asked you all if this old Vader piece was worth finishing and the response was a resounding yes. Back in 2014 Star Wars still meant the world to me, but we've both changed so much sense then! What started as a simple fan art morphed into a representation of my feelings on the franchise that made the greatest influence on my early creative path. Fan arts in general are a dangerous comfort zone of mine that I've been working my way out of. The pieces currently in the oven are challenging me with a variety of vibes and flavors that I'm really enjoying. While they won't be as familiar, I do hope they resonate with you in some way. I knocked out this Shatterpoint mini of The Mandalorian and Grogu and forgot to post it! I may jump back in at some point to tighten up the leathers, but I needed to move on to other projects. Tundra is here and he's ready to kick some ICE!! I got so hype reading the cool story @stoneskinpaints wrote in the new Relicblade Bone and Darkness book that I wound up writing my own lore for a clan of arctic cryomancer ninjas. As a lifelong Sub Zero main, I couldn't help it lol by @mikenmurdoc

This year's Bday sculpt is a throwback to a simpler time when getting Big Roshi to level 100 was all I had to worry about lol. We'll have STL's of him and many other offerings rolling out this year! 37 was a doozy, but I really appreciate everyone believing in me and filling up my heart's cup to the TIPPY-TOP!
