One of today’s spotlights at @boomservicenyc, Avatars of Dub’s first vinyl release from 1998, One Drop Theory EP. released on the Washington, D.C.-based label Eighteenth Street Lounge Music. The record blends smoky ambient dub, downtempo, and jungle/drum and bass styles. Avatars of Dub was a partnership of Mike Reger and Phillip Brooks with regular collaborators on vocals like See I Posse. This is the roots of Mikey Dubs, the origin story. Thanks @djdatkat for the mention. Go dig at Boom Service! You can’t find this gem on Spotify! #dub #downtempo #jungle #vinyl by @mikereger

I’ve always been an avid cloud watcher. I’ve never seen this type before. What a powerful spectacle for my birthday. Thank you Mother Nature. #longbeachny #freakstorm #nycbeach #cloudwatch #newyorklife taken in Long Beach, New York by @mikereger

I finally went to see the New Human exhibit on its last day at the @newmuseum yesterday. It was one of the most impressively curated and provocative shows I’ve seen this year, a deep dive into futurism and the nature of what it is to be human in times of great social and technological shifts, past and present. #art ##postmodernism #futurism #transhumanism possiblefutures taken in New Museum by @mikereger

Sometimes a pool is whispering to you from afar and you have to casually find your way into it. It murmurs “treat yourself a little. You know you should now and then, like right now, go swimming. And bring a buddy.” by @mikereger

I’m DJing the annual Castlebraid July 4 party once again, 5:00 - 6:30pm, and then another set at Keybar across the street sometime after 10 tbd. The usual shenanigans - bands, DJs, grilling, chilling, a great view of the fireworks on one of Bushwick’s most storied residential rooftops. It’s a community thing. DM me if you want to join…so I can show you a good time ;-) taken in Castlebraid by @mikereger

Despite a long waiting list, unpredictable weather and some unintended turf misunderstandings with some unhappy plot camper(s) that came for their weeds, invasive mint, and a nearly mature sunflower (I hope it survives the transplant) after i started planting (thank you, saved me the trouble), I finally have a little healing garden again. 🪴 by @mikereger

In my attempt to catch up on a late start to my new roof garden plot now that it’s officially summer, I may have gotten a little zealous with all these culinary starter plants. I hope they all fit and have room! We got sweet and Thai basil, heirloom black cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, red bells and Thai chillis…plus a whole giant bag of heirloom seeds for everything else I hope to grow into the late fall. I’m so happy to start using my green thumbs again, my granddad would be proud! #secretgarden #greenthumb #gardeningismytherapy by @mikereger
