Words can’t describe how perfect this day was. I feel so incredibly blessed to have spent it surrounded by the people who mean the most to us, standing before the One above all.

Alyssa, you were the most beautiful bride I’ve ever laid eyes on, and I couldn’t be more grateful to call you my wife. I love you forever!! taken in Ocean City, New Jersey by @mikesmitth

Extremely excited to announce that I am now an IRONMAN Certified Coach!

Over the past 10 months, I’ve essentially gone back to school—dedicating myself to learning and growing within this incredible sport. This journey has not only made me a better athlete but, more importantly, a stronger, more knowledgeable coach.

I’m eager to bring the best version of myself to every athlete I’m fortunate to work with and to continue growing alongside them.

I’ve never felt more aligned with my life’s purpose. -MTTM 🚀

Become an Ironman👇

Swim 2.4 miles - A lot of people fear this one the most and I used to be in the same boat. If you’re new to swimming like I was I highly recommend just getting in the water and embracing the discomfort. Practice open water swims as well. You’ll most likely need a wetsuit. After the swim you’ll go into the first transition (T1) for the bike.

Bike 112 miles - It sounds long but I promise it’s not that bad. Make sure you have a couple 100 milers you’ve done in training to prepare for this. Not only for the fitness, but also because of the mental training. Sitting on a bike for 5+ hours is as much a mental battle as it is physical. From the bike you’ll head into transition two (T2) which in some races will be right where T1 was.

Run 26.2 miles - This is where it gets fun, where you get to see what you’re made of. Although I’m not a great runner, this is probably my favorite discipline of the three. Everything is in your hands now. You can taste the finish line. It’s in these moments you get to prove to yourself who you are and who you’ve become along this journey. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I can’t emphasize this enough, you should have already been hydrating on the bike, but it’s even more important on the run so you don’t bonk. Give it everything you’ve got. Crossing that finish line to hear those magical words, “You are an Ironman”. Soak it all in. Be proud.

If you’re looking to do an Ironman, 70.3, or hybrid style fitness I’m now accepting a few motivated individuals to work with🤝

Successful morning watching the @mttmendurance team crush it. PRs and podiums all around🙌🫡

Not everyday will be a PR but having coached most of this crew for over a year, I know the hard work that’s been put in to get here. Being here to celebrate that with them really fills my cup.

30 days until forever.

— Here we go —

Our cliché love story began almost five years ago, the day I met you. I remember texting a friend right after saying “I think I just met my future wife.” Half kidding because I thought you were completely out of my league, but the other half holding onto the slightest hope that maybe this was one of those too-good-to-be-true, right time, right place, God’s plan kind of moments.

To my surprise and greatest blessing, it was.

You quickly became my everything. We’ve grown together, learned together, built together, and failed together. But through all of it, one thing never changed - I saw the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and I never once doubted it.

I only wish I could propose to you every single day.

You are such a special person with an even more special heart, and I’m so grateful to have a place in it. And now here we are, getting ready to stand at the altar together in front of the people who raised us, supported us, and have been with us through it all.

To my soulmate, my best friend, my forever - thank you for being you. Loving you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done, and I’ll continue to love you more and more every day. Being your husband will always be one of the greatest honors and joys of my life.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in this next chapter and many more to come.

I started @mttmendurance over two years ago with one simple yet powerful belief: training is More Than The Miles.

It’s never been just about the distance covered.

It’s about the journey of growth, resilience, and self-discovery that every athlete experiences along the way.

Each step is a reflection of your goals, your commitment, and your pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself.

At its core, MTTM exists to empower athletes to push beyond their limits, achieve their goals, and discover the deeper meaning behind every mile they conquer.

Today, it’s an absolute privilege to open this next chapter by welcoming @theworldbycourt to the MTTM coaching staff.

As a longtime MTTM athlete, Courtney not only embodies what it means to be a high-performing competitor, but also understands firsthand what it takes to unlock true potential. Her experience, passion, and dedication make her an incredible addition to the team, and I couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.

Head to the link in our bio to start your journey today💪

⬇️ How I went from a 7:02 → 4:40 Ironman 70.3

1️⃣ It wasn’t talent. It was structure.

I am by no means a “gifted” athlete. I had no swim background, never even owned a bike, and hated running anything more than 2 miles. You need a plan that includes structure (progression blocks, race specificity, etc). My first 70.3, I did whatever workouts I felt like that day. Most weeks I was never truly where I needed to be and was just guessing.

2️⃣ I learned the importance of fueling.

This was a whole new ballgame for me. Looking back, I had no idea what I was doing. I can’t stress this enough. Having a fueling strategy that works for you and your stomach is crucial to performance. Your body is an engine. You need to give it fuel to keep going and actually perform.

I started working with @transparentlabs and really dialed in my carb and electrolyte intake. Through trial and error, I now take in around 100g/hour on the bike and 60g/hour on the run.

3️⃣ You need volume and/or intensity.

This goes hand in hand with structure, but you need to either work with a coach or follow a plan that fits your lifestyle and schedule. Having guidance removes the guessing, the headaches, and helps prevent injuries. It’s the fastest way to unlock your potential. Every workout should have a clear purpose.

4️⃣ Strength + injury management.

The reality of endurance sports is that injuries can happen. Triathlon, marathons, ultras — none of us are immune. Strength training became the backbone of building a strong, durable body for me. That plus sleep and a clean diet and you become dangerous.

5️⃣ The power of compounding.

This one is obvious, but it matters. The difference between these pictures is three years. That’s a lot of bricks stacked day after day, month after month, year after year. Most of it goes unseen. But when you zoom out, you see the change. This sport, and life in general, rewards consistency. There are no shortcuts.

🔑 I also become an Ironman Certified Coach throughout this process and went full-time on my business @mttmendurance coaching 100+ athletes from podium finishers to first-timers. If you’re looking to work 1-on-1 with a coach, reach out! by @mikesmitth

Time trial Thursday?

First 70.3 bike split - 3:21 (2022)
Best 70.3 bike split - 2:26 (2025)

Been pretty sick these past few weeks, so reminiscing on some race photos

My position has evolved drastically over the past 3 years, but it’s still something I know I can improve and tweak this off season. Nonetheless I’m happy with this set up and rocket I get to call of a bike!
