Hello, my new song The Moon in the Movies is out today—featured over at God is in the TV zine 🌝

Three little things to know about it:

— it’s dedicated to my dear friend Sam Tyler, whose incredible anecdote about a night in LA inspired the song. I’ll try and get him to tell it to you.

— it’s a live take, warts and all, which is what the moon would want I think. Additional production was by @miketunng and strings by @zmaragda

— once you start spotting the moon in films, and you realise that it is the same moon in all of them, and that that same moon looked down on Sappho looking up, and that that moon looked down on dying dinosaurs, sliding ice sheets making their way across the earth, pagan rituals and ravers in a field, it’s advisable, then, to put this device down and seek out your nearest moon.

Had a few sessions in Mike's @miketunng Excellent Sound Space (MESS) here in Margate, where we recorded guitar, vocals, bass, trombone, synths and a variety of his gubbins for my EP. Here's a rundown:

Note: sometimes in the tracking process I would get distracted by looking at my phone while Mike gets everything fine tuned on his computer, and not notice him teleport to one of his gubbins to add the perfect sound, the missing piece. So I would hear this beautiful extra part out of nowhere, look ahead, he's disappeared, look around and suddenly I spot him stood behind something playing something beautiful. Next two slides will show this.

It plays like a lost fantasy soundtrack, inviting the listener into an adventure that feels both ancient and newly invented. 

Mike Lindsay, co-founder of folktronica legends Tunng, summons the perfect, chilling accompaniment to Rupert Russell’s The Last Sacrifice – a sinister true crime tale about the real-life witchcraft killing that inspired The Wicker Man. Folk horror in audio form!

"Window Tax", le nouvel album de Maxwell Farrington & Le Superhomard, paraîtra le 24 avril prochain !

Les précommandes sont ouvertes en CD, vinyle et vinyle édition limitée cream white (liens en bio).

Depuis "Once" (Talitres, 2021), @mfarrington_lesuperhomard construisent une pop orchestrale fondée sur l’art du récit, la richesse harmonique et la précision des arrangements. La voix grave de @maxwellfarrington s’inscrit dans des compositions élégantes portées par Christophe Vaillant, héritières des grandes écritures anglo-saxonnes des années 1960–1970. "I Had it All" (EP, 2022) a confirmé cette orientation mélodique, tandis que "Please, Wait…" (2024), enregistré avec des musiciennes et musiciens de l’Opéra et du Conservatoire de Nancy, a marqué un tournant vers une ampleur orchestrale assumée.

Pour "Window Tax", le duo a choisi de travailler en Angleterre. L’album a été enregistré à Margate, près de Londres, avec Mike Lindsay (Tunng), dans un studio pensé comme un espace d’expérimentation sonore, rempli de synthétiseurs analogiques, de percussions atypiques et d’instruments singuliers. Ce nouveau disque approfondit leur écriture pop et renforce leur goût pour les textures, l’architecture des morceaux et une production plus ouverte, au service d’une identité désormais pleinement affirmée.

Le premier single et son clip "Supermarket", réalisé par Cyril « Pooley » Jean ( @woom_studio), sont déjà disponibles.
