the camera is only a mirror, a tricky mirror (aren’t they all) a tool to reflect what we see, & I tryyy (add more y’s for emphasisssss) to use my camera to reflect the vision the people behind it have of themselves. 🖤

Simplicity for Mae & a lil darkness added by me 🖤 to ask what beauty means to us, & how we see beauty & feel beautiful despite all the distorted lenses of the word reflected on us.

At the end of the day - beyond what society has dictated to us, what makes u feel beautiful? or - what is “beauty” as you understand it? it goes beyond aesthetics - the idea 💡 of beauty. whatever your idea of that is, keep doin it. ✨

I think this also “speaks” to me (lol, art. so hard to take self seriously - *obsessively adds emojis*) - because beauty, the idea is hard for me / a lot of us.
I love making other ppl feel seen 🤩💯 & bringing all the love ⛽️ for everyone around me

but I have a hard time feelin that for myself. 🧢 some days I chase that feeling -

& some days I think we are all just floating blobs & our physical selves should not be admired or hated or thought of or perceived at all. 😆 (ask your shadow about it)

💌 organizing oldies: dearrrr diary some of the first pics I ever took on a camera camera w this always looking too gooood hesitant participant. & the song Juju picked that reminds me of my first year in Chicago walking in the snow with no coat & not being able to feel my fingers not caring at all & being giddy with one earbud for each of us because duh we had 22 year old energy & good knees Captain X J👀J @captainxjohnny. did I love the photos? noo but now yes yes I love them so much because we did things & time is running away from me and I am becoming a sentimental Titi and cherishing my memories okayy & I will keep running ☺️ more posts more love more EARNESTLY appreciating your process. ✨TIARA ✨ turns thirty WON - one last late shoutout for birthday week - I either have NO pics of my best friends that exist or entire collections 😅 IYKYK & blessed to have so many of you - thx for always collaborating with me - making art - DIYing the most beautiful things & being such a sweet & true friend. I love seeing you being the best mama & going to birthday parties 🥳 & dance parties. (With this knee strapped up in my big big knee brace) 🪩 It’s a blessing getting to know your whole fam while being a part of your chosen one. Can’t wait for the next real Spice Girl’s night with you & Freddie & to work on the cover for your new album >>> I love being Titi & painting with Nazarah. When things get dark all I can know for sure is that celebrating the people in your life & having true community is what makes this life worth it. Love you sister friend.

we climbed up mountains (big big big rocks) & crawled in caves in the Vegas desert where we’ve never been before in 95 degrees running on no sleep after a 24 hour flight delay with no budget & my torn knee -

and after I was being critical of my shots, I reminded myself we did that! 🫡

practice makes praxis & I’m learning by doing. every day. with people I love. and at the risk of being eArNeSt, (🙀) that’s what matters to me the most.
