Dear Basketball,

I’ve been holding off on this post because I really did not know how to say goodbye. All my life I’ve heard one day the ball will stop bouncing and I can’t believe that day has come. You’ve been my entire life since I was 7 years old.

The game has taught me so much. The lessons of discipline, leadership, selflessness, and perseverance. It has given me so many opportunities and has taken me places I never imagined.

My dream since I was a little girl was to play D1 basketball and I was fortunate to do that for 5 years.

SIUE taught me so much. I made life long friendships and endured a lot over my 4 years. I could write a book about that experience lol. The most pivotal moment of course was finding out I was pregnant with Malia at the start of my senior year and playing through the entirety of my season. My love for the game gave me the strength to push through for not only myself but for my daughter.

Saint Peter’s, I am truly forever grateful. Gave me the opportunity to end my story on my own terms. Allowed me to find my love for the game again and introduce my daughter to the game I love so much.
