I had a great time at the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Wisconsin Chapter #engagingstories2026 Conference. I’m taking away a few new ideas, as well as new memories with this wildly creative group of people! taken in Green Lake, Wisconsin by @mikkidefever

I am in love with this adorable crochet mosquito made by @adrialyshandmade that a family member sent my way to celebrate my upcoming picture book, Snug as a Mosquito in a Burrito!

It’s in the works with illustrator @niccimartin_draws and @beamingbooksmn and will be hitting bookshelves in spring of 2028.

‘Til then, I’ve got this buzzy, little guy to keep me company.

It can take just one book to ignite a love of reading, learning & dreaming!

What a creative night at the
@madisonreadingproject READ(y) to Wear fundraiser on a mission to get free literary resources and books in the hands of more kids.

Plus, I had a blast getting ready and making origami shooting stars to match the paper fashion + Out of This World theme! taken in Madison, Wisconsin by @mikkidefever

This story stirs together an anxious boy’s calming strategy with heartwarming family bonds— and tops it off with a dollop of whipped cream and whimsy!

I am excited for this children’s book to get out into the world.
