What’s up y’all? It’s been a minute since we posted. Actually, it’s been approximately 43,833 minutes - but who’s counting?

What can we say? We’ve been busy with kid stuff: after-school activities, eating ice cream, homework, leaving our stuff all over common areas for mom to pick up – and so on, and so on.

This weekend we went to @unicornworldevent and it was pretty lit. They had multiple bouncy houses, and enchanted forest with full-size unicorns in a rainbow of colors, other unicorns that you could drive, a dance party area, and some ball pits. Trés fun.

Check their website, the unicorns and friends may be coming soon to a town near you.

We 🐝 buggin @insectropolis: touching tarantulas, caressing cockroaches, massaging millipedes (you get the idea.)

Go feel for yourself!

In addition to the live insects, there are eight exhibits with interactive displays, and an impressive collection of pinned specimens - a bona-fide cornucopia of exoskeletons.

For a totally immersive approach, we recommend dressing in head-to-toe bugs when you visit. Our fits are from @piccolina_kids Entomology Collection (we didn’t want to be upstaged by the jewel beetles, after all.)

It’s the little things that spark joy:

Lambs. Carousel rides. Gobble showdowns with turkeys.

We visited @thefarmersmuseum in Cooperstown, NY recently and learned about farm life in the 1800’s in New York State. It’s a living history museum, the site has been part of a working farm since 1813. We witnessed a blacksmith at work, saw some nasty ol’ leeches swimming around in the jar at the pharmacy, and watched a textile artist knit. She talked about spinning yarn from lambswool, and about the use of natural dyes.

The farmers even put us to work: we rounded up some chickens, and fed the goats. (We’re pretty much farm-experts at this point.)

Oh - and we got to ride on the Empire State Carousel at the museum! It’s gorg. was hand-carved by artisans from across New York, and boy, its it awesome.

Happy Memorial Day, friends!

This was our first stay at a lake house and it was pretty blissful and serene. Giving thanks for safe and peaceful surroundings with family, (and s’mores.)

Instead of bringing mom flowers on Mother’s Day, we brought mom to the flowers before the big day (ok, technically dad drove.) The blooms at the #nybgorchidshow were spectacular, as was our behavior - we promise!
Thanks to daddy for driving, and to @piccolina_kids for delightful insect-inspired threads.

Happy Earth Day!

Our play today was inspired by this beautiful button down that @piccolina_kids generously shared with us. It is made from 100% organic poplin cotton, and it’s from Piccolina’s new Rainforest Collection.

We had plenty of leopard print pieces – now we have a print featuring an okapis. Wardrobe goal unlocked.

We went for a rainforest memory match mashup. Yep, we decided to interweave the our poison dart frog and butterfly games from @mudpuppykids to take our rainforest educational play to the next level.

Spoiler alert: as soon as we move back home, we’re getting our own bumble bee dart frogs! Taking suggestions for names now.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted – hopping on to say Happy Easter!

This homemade bunny cake from our Nona was just too adorable not to share.

We think our eggs came out pretty fab, too.

We went for total immersion chemistry lesson this weekend: First we donned our @piccolina_kids Marie Curie and Rosalind Franklin tees so that we could channel the energy of the greats.

Then we headed to our Dad’s workshop to watch him capture hydrogen gas in a balloon and then ignite it. It was pretty exciting.

Finally, we took the old adage “atoms are the building blocks of matter” quite literally and broke out our Old Nobby kit and started constructing some molecules. Pretty sure we created some new elements in the process.

We’re on an unofficial mission to see all the pretty flowers in our state this spring. So far, we’re off to a splendid start:

Sunday we ventured to Deep Cut Gardens. We made fast friends with the koi in the Japanese style pond, hid in the azaleas, discovered a real live pitcher plant in the greenhouse, and decided that bleeding hearts should actually be called “pink pooping hearts” (which is obviously HILARIOUS, because we are 3 and 5).

Good times.

We went to @hollandridgfarms to pick our own tullips this weekend. Boy, was it beautiful!

And we didn’t even barf in the car on the way there!

We know that technically #internationalunicornday was a few days ago - but hey, we’re still feeling festive!

After all, it took us a couple of days to make, frost, and eat our #unicorncupcakes - we’re still on a sparkle sugar-high.

BTW, the cupcakes turned out pretty fabulously...(even if the orange frosting looked like glittery uni). 🤣
